The Guest House is charming, beautifully decorated, clean and very comfortable. The staff were helpful and friendly. The area is great - full of unique restaurants and shops - lots to do! Convenient location, too. I was here for a conference, and the Guest House was right across the street. I would definitely come back!

Our recent stay for three days last week was our third time staying at the American Guest House. The House is an old home, and its decor is warm and charming. The rooms are always clean, the beds are comfortable, and the breakfasts are delicious. We enjoy its location, its proximity to our son's apartment and the convenience of the... More

The house is lovely and the staff were friendly. The only downside is it's a little far from the closest metro station (Dupont Circle) if you're dragging a heavy case. But the friendly atmosphere makes up for it. Breakfast was lovely too and they easily accommodated my dietary needs (gluten and lactose free). I highly recommend it.

I panicked at first when I knew I was coming to DC for the weekend of May 15. Rooms all over town were super expensive and I needed to be within walking distance of Georgetown. I had no idea it was Georgetown and GW graduation; hence, crazy prices everywhere. I googled 'B&Bs in/near Georgetown' and up came American Guest House.... More

We stayed here for 5 nights for during the Cherry Tree Festival ( a very busy time). We were in room 402. This is a very small room. It will meet your most basic needs of a place to sleep, shower, and have breakfast. There are several small rooms like this one at American Guest House. It is basically one... More

Dear jkuchtaofmi, We are always so grateful when our guests take time off their busy life to write a review and offer feedback. I find this fact worthy of great praise. Of course it is human nature to want to hear only the great things, but in order to improve as a business, we need and appreciate the feedback, even... More

I spent two weeks in Washington DC at the American Guest House. The Guest House is a seven minute walk to Dupont Circle, the upscale heart of DC. But, around this area you will find every type and quality of bars, restaurants, clubs, two excellent bookshops, tons of shopping and every other type of activity available in DC is either... More

Dear Ali, Thank you so much for such a wonderful and detailed review. I am thrilled and grateful for your kind words and am extremely happy that you enjoyed your stay with us. You are right, I should have named it Washington DC bed and breakfast or Inn, instead of guest house. Thanks also for the tip on the pillows,... More

A very charming B&B in Washington DC with a familial atmosphere. The rooms are nice and clean and the staff very helpful. The breakfasts were delicious with home made specialities, different every day. The location was good, not far from Dupont Circle and close to bus-stop for "Hop-on Hop-off". Can be recommended!

This was my second visit to the American Guest House. Chef Kevin, Margarite (hopefully, I’m correct on the housekeeper’s name), and Lucia (the owner) are wonderful, friendly, informative people. I enjoyed talking with each of them. The other staff members that I encountered were not quite as friendly, so their names were not even mentioned. On this visit, I booked... More

The staff at at the American Guest House in Washington DC were incredibly kind and accommodating and we were allowed to sneak up to our room on the fourth floor after “quiet hours” as our arrival was later than expected. Upon entering the space, we were met with a beautiful, dark, carved wood interior decorated tastefully. A grand winding staircase... More

Their motto is "Home away from home", and it corresponds to truth. Guests are followed from the minute they arrive to their departure. One is always greeted with a smile and On entering after a day out,one smells the home-made cookies, waiting on a table near the living room. Rooms are tiny but there is everything needed and, last but... More
