Staying here was a treat. It was about 2 minutes from the conference I was attending at the Washington Hilton and I got a much friendlier place to stay. Meeting people from my conference and several others over breakfast lead to some very interesting conversations.

Great location. Helpful hosts. Nice breakfast. Good price. Great historic inn. I will stay here each time I visit. Close to DuPont Circle Metro. Bus stop next door down and a parking garage nearby within walking distance.

Everything about our 4-night stay at the American Guest House was top-notch. The location was perfect, central enough to make touring and dining easy, but not also quiet. The house is absolutely beautiful and our two rooms at the top of the house were spacious, comfortable, and charming. But the hospitality was what really made the stay special. Guests ate... More

We chose this Inn based on it's location. We were able to walk to the White House, WWII Memorial and National Zoo. Although the walks were made a little more challenging by a rare March snow storm for the area. Parking is available in either the nearby Marriott or Hilton garages at around $36.00/day, not cheap but we were able... More

We had no idea what to expect when we walked in, but we were graciously greeted by a very friendly gentleman. The entire house was very tidy, bed was comfortable and we never heard the guests staying in the next room over. Lisa made breakfast in the morning but there were also assorted drinks and snacks available on the honor... More

This bed and breakfast felt as welcoming as home. The room was in the basement but was spacious, very clean and simply beautiful. Lisa welcomed us and worked with us as our schedule we pretty tight. Lisa also provided a sumptious and delicious breakfast served with all the trimmings. The location provided us a short walk to our symposium at... More

We stayed at American Guest House for one night and it was a great experience! From the moment we got there, Lisa was a very kind and welcoming host (and she also made a fabulous breakfast in the morning!) Our room was very clean an Lisa was accommodating to all of our requests. I highly recommend American Guest House to... More

We had a lovely and hospitable stay for valentines day weekend. The building is charmingly old-fashioned and our hostess (who is also the chef) was friendly, accommodating and made delicious custom breakfasts for us. Walking distance to Dupont circle and thereby also the metro. A nice change of pace from a regular, less personal hotel experience!

I booked our accommodation the night before arriving on the internet. Email contact from the B&B was immediate and we found the location easily and it was as it turned out really well placed to get around being on a bus route straight outside and close to the bustling Du Pont Circle. We were welcomed by Lisa who is I... More

Another trip to Washington and a decision as to where to stay. I opted for what I knew would be good and returned to the American Guest House. Why? # The rates are competitive # It is a house not a hotel - relaxed, informal, like a home. # I stayed 5 nights and it's so much more comfortable when... More
