As others have mentioned we needed extra pillows, they were delivered to our room in less than 5 minutes from requesting them, our room was kept spotlessly clean and the staff were helpful throughout our stay. The location is great a walk into Georgetown is pleasant and ther are many places for evening meals and also breakfast if you want.... more

My husband and I stayed at the Melrose for 2 nights for part of an anniversary trip. We got an incredible deal on TravelZoo and were afraid it might be too good to be true but we weren't disappointed. The front desk staff was very accommodating and upgraded us to a suite, which was spacious, clean, comfortable and quiet. (We... more

We just got back from staying in the Melrose for 5 nights. We got a great deal for aprox. $120 a night and were upgraded to a small suite because I was getting in late at night. I asked nicely to make sure my room was decent and they offered the upgrade. Deal! The hotel does need to be updated.... more

Positive things are that we had a confortable room, and two members of reception staff were friendly. But only two! Negatives: hairs in the tub, dirt behind the bed, stained carpet, desk lamp not working, soft beds, thin pillows, expensive breakfast, very, very poor breakfast staff including restaurant manager, far too expensive juice at breakfast that noone told us it... more

I organized a Conference at the Melrose and received a great rate for our room block. Wireless internet fees and breakfast were included in that rate and I had a wonderful room. I don't usually have an issue staying on the first floor of a boutique hotel, but guests should be forewarned that the first floor of this establishment is... more

The hotel is down at heel. One of the elevators has a broken floor. The pillows leave you with neck ache. The breakfast is disgusting and waiting staff unfriendly. The service in Library Bar excruciatingly slow but the food is palatable. Most of the staff are unfriendly. Probably only somewhere to stay for the location-it is close to Georgetown and... more

We reserved at the Melrose because it was close to a meeting I had to attend and my boss had stayed there several years ago without problems. Website indicated it had a full service restaurant and bar which were important to us. Website Indicated rooms had been refurbished, pillow top mattresses, etc. Rate was reasonable and included a breakfast buffet.... more

This hotel is seriously like a hostel. The staff is not friendly nor helpful at all. The room had a very funky odor that you immediately smelled once you opened the door. The furniture was old and the room was very dated and worn. The towels were old and the shower curtain had mold on it. The desk chair was... more

Just got back from the Melrose, very good hotel, clean and the rooms are big. Elevators are very very fast which is a good thing especially at a hotel. The hotel is located very close to Georgetown, but not downtown D.C. so you will need to take a taxi or the metro. Overall this hotel was good and I would... more

I wrote a review on the hotel on April 27, 2009. The management answered it with the suggestion that the next time I was in I should talk with them. Well, I stayed there about one week later on Mother's Day weekend for three nights. I arrived at the hotel at 4:10 pm. The desk receptionist needed to "check" on... more
