My boyfriend and I stayed here April 30, 2013 - May 2, 2013. Kalorama is in a great location, beautiful neighborhood, and only a few blocks from the Woodley Park Metro stop AND the National Zoo (which is free and a great morning stroll since they feed the animals in the morning!). When we arrived (3 hours earlier than check-in)... More

This was my second visit to DC that included a stay at the Kalorama Guest House. My second visit in March/April of 2013 was every bit as comfortable and pleasant as my first visit was in 2012. Jack, the proprietor could not be more friendly, accommodating and helpful. The location is very convenient with easy access to the DC Metro... More

We spent a really good time at Kalorama Guest House. Jack is awsome and made us feel like at home. And the breakfast was really good! I definitely will be back at this place if I go back to Washington. :-)

Drawn to Washington DC at least once a year for business, I grew tired of the large chain hotels with their excess of amenities and excessive pricing. The Kalorama guesthouse on Cathedral Avenue offered the perfect blend of proximity and homeyness that allowed a quick trip in and out of our nations capital to be productive, efficient and cost-effective. The... More

Very pleasant, clean, and friendly guest house in a lovely neighborhood near the zoo. Jack, the owner, is the most friendly and accommodating host you could want. His refrain of 'this is your house' is genuine. Most amazing, he remembers everyone's name and preferences. Each room has a private bath. No phones or TVs in the room, just pleasant furniture... My girlfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed our two nights in the Kalorama Guest House. We were clearing out my my mother's house and needed to a place to stay when the house was close to empty. It is conveniently located near the Zoo and the Metro and the rooms are quiet, clean and reminder of the old-style DC. Jack, the... More

There is truly nothing negative I can say about the Kalorama Guest House. The service was unparalleled. Jack is extremely personable, attentive and professional. He knew every guest's name and made an effort to make all feel welcome. He created a very warm environment where everyone felt at home (he makes a hot breakfast every morning, bakes cookies in the... It's in a very nice neighborhood so I felt safe, it was near the Metro spot so its easy to get around, the bed was comfy and very clean, but the building is old and a bit funky so I can't give it 4 or 5 stars. However, it's a very reasonable option in DC especially when the hotels are... More

First off Jack is an amazing host and wonderful person. He really made staying here feel like home and he was extremely helpful. Everything was perfect. The housestaff are excellent and everything was easily available with nothing to want. It is also in an excellent location with beautiful cherry tree out front which was in bloom during my stay. Breakfast... More

Jack is a wonderful host; we really enjoyed our stay at the Kalorama Guest House. Our family of four stayed in a room on the second floor. It was neat and cozy, and had enough space for the four of us. The place has the feel of a old-style European B and B, and it is in a fantastic location.
