I stayed 3 nights here, just leaving this morning. I was upgraded (at no extra charge) to room 201. Up one flight of stairs, private shower/bath, a writing desk, and a balcony with 3 chairs and a table. Lovely to sit out in the evening but I appreciated the AC too. The breakfasts were good, and the bedtime cookies too.... More

This is my new favorite lodging in the Washington, D.C. area, and I hope to return soon. I spent two nights during a business trip. The proprietor, Jack, has a unique gift for remembering people's names and he uses it to make everyone feel comfortable. He emphasizes that "this is like your home" and he shows you around to make... I didn't meet the host, and I didn't stay for breakfast, so I can't comment on hospitality. However my room was a bit shabby (broken tile, rattling windows), and the shower was a major disappointment (it took 10 minutes to get a dribble of lukewarm water). I almost always prefer a bed and breakfast over a hotel, but for what... More

I spent one night at this guest house. Extremely helpful and friendly staff. Well located in the center of the citiy, right next to the woodley park zoo, and still quite at the same time. There is a living room area with a TV where you can enjoy a rest during the day, with free drink, appetizers and beers in... More

I would highly recommend the Kalorama. I can't say enough good things about our stay in this charming old home in a lovely DC neighborhood. The proprietor made everyone feel welcome and at home (we even had fresh baked cooking waiting for us in the afternoon!). Wonderful breakfast and interesting guests from all over the world. Thank you, Jack!!

This was a perfect place to stay for our business trip instead of the pricey lavish hotels. Jack was a wonderful host and had a nice hot breakfast ready in the morning and yummy fresh baked cookies and wine in the evening. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. This is a perfect place for on the go... More

I usually travel to Washington DC for rather intense meetings involving complex international relations problems. Before my experience with Jack and the hospitality he offered at the Kalorama Guest House,my hotel experience was very ordered and impersonal. So it was off to the meetings and back to the hotel room in the evening without much relaxation and little contact with... More

I was in DC for three busy days of meetings and visits and Kalorama proved to be a comfortable place to stay in for rest thanks to the inkeeper’s kindness and generosity, he let me feel as at home and prepared a wonderful breakfast every morning, it was also great to meet and talk to the other guests during breakfast.

Beautiful house in a beautiful neighborhood. We were made to feel so welcome it really felt like a home away from home. The guest house is about 5-10 minutes walk from the Woodley Park/Adams Morgan stop on the metro (slightly uphill, though - just to warn you if you have heavy bags!) Quick connections into central DC. We stayed in... More

My wife and I stayed here during a conference we were both attending nearby and it was a great way to escape and relax after the end of a busy day. We really appreciated the old rooms with no TV! The owner, Jack, went out of his way to make sure our needs were completely met. The home-cooked breakfast made... More
