First time to DC. Im glad I picked Monaco. My first thought walking into the hotel was eclectic, lots of different colors and patterns all of the walls. Front desk staff very friendly and check in was a breeze. I stayed on the first floor..heard no noise. Room had the same vibe the entrance did. Spacious with a desk, entertainment... More

The Monaco is in a great location—steps from the Gallery Place/Chinatown metro—and near a number of great restaurants. The rooms are small nicely appointed with comfortable beds, great pillows, and a small but adequate work space. In spite of the positives, I left disgruntled and have no plans to return. My room was on the third floor and overlooked the... More

On the surface, the Monaco looks like a good choice for a family stay while visiting DC. Good location, mid-level prices, Kimpton decor- not for everyone, but you know what you're getting. Unfortunately, we experienced the same problem other reviewers clearly have, namely that the hotel hosts large, loud wedding receptions that ruin the overall experience. The music blares through... I never write reviews for trip advisor usually. But this hotel is a serious disappointment. Food and drink: average. The staff are up themselves and unhelpful. They obviously don't enjoy working here. The plumbing doesn't work properly and the rooms in the basement stink of damp. At least our one does. They like to make much of the interesting building,... The Monaco is in a great location, many restaurants and museums are a quick walk away, but I was expecting a bit more from the hotel. My room was on the first floor and had very high ceilings, but was a hike from the entrance. The room itself was nice, but furnishings were worn. I had to retrieve my car... More

I travel a lot for work and whenever I am in DC I stay at the Monaco; I've stayed there many, many times. Every time they just get better and better. Being in and out of hotel rooms can make me feel isolated so it's amazing for me when I walk into the Monaco and be greeted by name. One... More

My husband and I just returned from a 5 night stay at the Monaco Hotel and I must say that it is a beautifully restored property with marble floors and staircases and eye catching decorating. The staff were wonderful and our room was modern, spacious and comfortable. Being at the base of the marble staircase created a problem for us... More

We visited for three days after xmas with our two small boys. All of us allergic to dust, etc. and the hotel was super helpful in changing the linens for us the night we arrived to non-feathers as my son had an allergic reaction. The staff was very accommodating and made sure all or our expectations were exceeded. Great brunch... More

The hotel is rather eclectic in decor and is a quality/individualistic hotel. It is in a useful location for central Washington DC in a nice area, and off (some rooms) a main road, so relatively quiet. Friendly helpful staff. Let down by details. I expected coffee-making facilities in the room, a very basic requirement for a hotel of this price... More

Eclectic decor, individualistic, quality hotel, and a friendly and helpful staff - I'm let down by the review too David L. It's true, we're not a buffet breakfast hotel - but we don't say we are either, it doesn't really fit with the style or the menu in our award winning Poste Brasserie. In addition to complimentary coffee makings in... More
