First disclaimer: I am a huge fan of the Kimpton chain of hotels. Being an Intouch member (free sign up), gives you free Wi-Fi access, $10 credit for the restaurant/minibar and a morning paper of your choice. Generally, the service and quality of the hotel exceed other chains relative to price, decor, restaurant/food choices, lobby amenities, valet parking, etc. But,... More

A great Kimpton hotel in a magnificent building. This hotel is located in the old post office of washington dc and the hallways are huge as well as the rooms. The height of the ceilings is beyond spectacular. The service in this hotel is great and there are super friendly people at the front desk. As an inner circle member... More

This was a really great place to stay, beautiful historic post office converted into a charming hotel. Amazing location 2 blocks from the Mall!, really friendly staff, great service, stylish and charming. Cannot wait to return.

Easter weekend/Spring Break...a crazy tourist time in DC. I booked a room for my parents and nephew who were visiting for the long weekend. I reserved and paid for the Monte Carlo room, but it turns out it wasn't a great choice for a couple with a young child. Thaxton at the front desk was fantastic! He upgraded us to... More

This was our first trip to Alexandria, DC and we fell in love with it. It's a large hotel [ over 200 rooms] . Very pet friendly. I was impressed with how well behaved all the dogs were. Rooms are large, bed very comfortable and clean. Only minor complaint, with our rooms bathroom had had two sinks and didn't find... More

We stayed five nights at the Hotel Monaco. Excellent service from the moment we walked in and found a platter of hot cookies waiting on the counter! 2 pm seems to be cookie time! Our room was on the second floor which is a little above street level. Floor one seems almost under ground. It was in a great location.... More

Great location! Agents at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. Every time I encountered any staff through the hotel they all smiled and said hello! Many hotels the employees avoid speaking to you but not here. You can tell the associates are genuinely happy and take pride in their work. :)

First time to DC. Im glad I picked Monaco. My first thought walking into the hotel was eclectic, lots of different colors and patterns all of the walls. Front desk staff very friendly and check in was a breeze. I stayed on the first floor..heard no noise. Room had the same vibe the entrance did. Spacious with a desk, entertainment... More

The Monaco is in a great location—steps from the Gallery Place/Chinatown metro—and near a number of great restaurants. The rooms are small nicely appointed with comfortable beds, great pillows, and a small but adequate work space. In spite of the positives, I left disgruntled and have no plans to return. My room was on the third floor and overlooked the... More

On the surface, the Monaco looks like a good choice for a family stay while visiting DC. Good location, mid-level prices, Kimpton decor- not for everyone, but you know what you're getting. Unfortunately, we experienced the same problem other reviewers clearly have, namely that the hotel hosts large, loud wedding receptions that ruin the overall experience. The music blares through...
