Located in the heart of DC, candy corner to the Verizon Center, across the street from the National Portrait Gallery and 2 blocks away from The National Mall. Check in was swift and smooth! Johnny the desk man was able to read my mood and accommodate the fact I didn't want to chat. The decor is subtlety politik. With the... More

My husband and I celebrated our first anniversary by stay-cationing at the Hotel Monaco last weekend. After specifically requesting (twice) a quiet room with a nice view imagine our surprise to find ourselves in a dark basement. Open the drapes at your own risk as passersby can pear into your room, in fact directly at your bed. We thought the... More

This is a lovely hotel in the middle of everything we wanted to see in Washington DC. The building is fabulous and used to be the general post office. On arrival the staff were friendly and did spend some time making sure the two rooms we booked were close together. However, I am not sure we were any better off... More

Celebrating our 45th anniversary in DC and, sadly, it was not at all what I had hoped for. We had a TINY room on the first floor. Don't let them fool you - it's really the cellar!!! The little window was at least 12 feet from the floor. No view and no hope for an emergency escape should there be... More

We are staying at the Monaco for our Anniversary and having a wonderful time. It is close to many attractions and restaurants. The staff are very thoughtful. We have received so many extras-$1 breakfast at the Poste was a treat - fresh squeezed orange juice, fantastic array of fresh fruit and a very large croissant. I told my husband it... More

My son and I spent 3 nights here in June in a Monte Carlo room with rollaway bed. The rooms was very spacious even with the extra bed and the main bed was extremely comfortable. We had early concerns about noise as it was a weekend and there were multiple weddings on site but thankfully our room was fairly quiet... More

I booked this hotel for a bargain. The staff was great, doorman helped with our luggage. The location is fantastic. Very close to everything, mall sites and restaurants. Having said this, the actual hotel is not overly impressive, but for the price and location I would book it again.

We were lucky enough to get a great deal at the Monaco in DC. It was amazing! The location is perfect, we barely needed to use the Metro because it was so close to everything! They upgraded us to a suite, which was perfect for our family of 4. My kids loved the goldfish in the room, what a cute... More

My boyfriend and I stayed at Monaco for New Year's Eve. It was absolutely fabulous. We had a corner room which had very high ceilings and a nice, huge bed with a super tall headboard. I requested the goldfish, which is such an awesome touch that Kimpton Hotels do at all of their locations (I believe). Lots of windows in... More

So pleased that you enjoy Poste so often, it truly is wonderful and an outside dining experience not to be missed. We're excited that we have our new Chef who just started as well - so look for the great food to continue in new and innovative ways! Come back and sample soon, NYE is so far away! Cheers Ed... More

We are loyal Kimpton customers, staying almost exclusively in their hotels when we travel to cities where they are present. We had stayed in the DC Palomar about 18 months and had such a wonderful experience that we decided to return. However, when we saw the pictures and reviews of the Monaco we decided to give it a go. And... More
