I have stayed at the Kimpton Monaco DC about a dozen times in the last 2 years, it is very convenient to Verizon Center and numerous restaurants and museums for concerts, events, etc. As you can tell from the recent reviews, they are renovating. This happens, as it is expected that a hotel will have to renovate at some time.... More

Dear Jessica A, we hear you, and we're sorry. Truly, we have made every effort to limit any noisy work to hours when guests are out of the building. Given your past dozen visits and familiarization with the great location, I do hope you'll be back again soon, the renovations finish up this month and we'd love to make it... More

My husband and I stayed here for our first trip to Washington DC. It's kind of an odd building as it was converted from a civil-war era post office. This results in very long hallways and an odd room shape. It was walking distance from several museums we wanted to visit and right next to a metro stop so we... More

Thank you for your review Sarah O. Monaco is one of the best located hotels in this (or any) city I think, many museums, shops, and restaurants dot the history Penn Quarter. Our 1839 initial construction does make for a unique and historic experience, but we hope and believe that it's one that is worth coming back for. I hope... More

I had always wanted to stay at this hotel. I read the trip advisor reviews and requested not to have a room in the areas written about by other reviewers as not being good - below ground, in the non-renovated areas etc. However, I did not ask to have a room far away from the ballrooms. Unfortunately, my room 417... More

Fortunately by the end of this month, there won't be any non-renovated areas CFCKiev2015. There are so many great things about the Monaco, including many extra quiet rooms (which btw tend to be on the first floor), I wish we had known about your early flight so that we didn't disappoint you this visit. The vast majority of our reviews... More

This probably has been a lovely hotel and will be again when the construction is finished - but we arrived yesterday and were put on the third floor, and it is like being in the midst of a renovations project. There are boxes of cushions in the hall, plaster dust on the hallway floor, and shortly after we got in... More

Not our best work GabyTraveler, I agree. There have been portions of the renovation that are necessarily noisy and for that I am truly sorry. We do our very best to limit this work to hours when our guests are typically out of the building but I can see we missed the mark on the morning of your stay. I... More

In 2014, we had written an outstanding review for this hotel, and were treated very well with discounted pricing for military service. We stayed several times at this hotel. However, we have called several times in the past year, and were treated poorly. Left messages for the Manager, who never called us back. Inquired about military pricing, and were shoved... More

My husband and I love the Kimpton chain so when were planning our trip to Washington from Toronto, the Monaco sounded perfect. It's an older hotel (I believe it was a postal office) and teh 4th floor was under renos when we were there at the end of Dec 2015. We stayed on the 3rd floor and the room was... More

First, I am not neutral about Kimpton hotels. They are my first choice whenever we're in a city with Kimpton properties. Second, in DC, The Kimpton Hotel George will always be our favorite hotel. But, the Monaco is supurb. The location, for museums and other must-sees, is ideal. The Kimpton rooms are roomy (for DC) and bright. Immaculate housekeeping is... More

First time staying at a Kimpton hotel and it will not be our last! I picked the hotel for its location .... but we feel in love with this quirky hotel. Monaco Hotel - you had me at the lobby! While the hotel is in the perfect location to walk to nearby museums and attractions, we were put on the 100 level, which is below ground and has a dungeon feel to it. Rooms are small, carpets are dirty and so are common areas of the hotel. The staff was very nice and allays great to grab a free coffee/hot... More

Hello WorldTraveler1976, thanks for your comments about our great staff and location. My (new) wife and I, DC residents, stayed at the Monaco Hotel in Washington DC on our wedding night (1/6/16), having gotten married that day in the DC courthouse. I informed the hotel staff of our marital status – older couple, one night before we return to our DC jobs. The room was beautiful, luxurious, spacious, quiet and historic, and... More
