We reserved 2 nights at the Monaco for a short stay after dropping our daughter off at the Naval Academy for her Plebe summer. I booked here because of the location to the attractions we wanted to visit and the good reviews. Because I booked through a second party at a very good rate, I expected to be put in... More

Ok, the good: located near Capitol Hill and close to transportation. -Very beautiful and historic hotel-the history of this place is absolutely fascinating. Rumored to be haunted, although outside of a slight feeling of discomfort that kept me up for two-three hours after checking in, I didn't see anything ominous or paranormal myself. -on checking in, the front desk greeter... The location was great - walkable to all the touristy spots. I was happy with this Kimpton property, and the reception service is impeccable. The hotel décor was interesting, but the "historic" aspect of the building must prevent them from making it a little cleaner and cozier feeling. I have to admit the Kimpton brand is starting to lose its... More

Doug will make you feel right at home. I stayed there for five nights; it was the first time I had visted DC and even though I came alone; I didn't feel alone, because Douglas made me feel at home. The hotel is the best location in town: close to Regan Airport, Union Station, and all of the museums, monuments,... More

The hotel is absolutely beautiful and in a great location! I had a room that had a separated 'living room' and it was all VERY comfy and cozy. Since I was staying alone, I decided to request a goldfish- something I have never seen before. Overall it was a great stay. I was a little disappointed I wasn't able to... More

You can't go wrong by staying at this Hotel Monaco. The rooms are all great, albeit a little quirky. The staff is genuinely helpful and friendly. And, the location is perfect if you like to walk and see the sites. The restaurant here is great for any meal, and the bar and courtyard is perfect for happy hour. On my... More

The location is hard to beat in the chinatown area. One block from Verizon center and 2 from Smithsonian's. All of the staff we interacted with were extremely helpful, and genuinely friendly. We were upgraded to a Robert Mills Suite, which is a corner unit featuring a separate sitting area and jetted tub. The decor in the room was historic,... More

I rarely write reviews but wanted to show appreciation for the Monaco for treating me so well. They accommodated my last minute business trip w a great rate, gave me wine upon arrival even though I missed happy hour and allowed me a late check out that made my day much easier. I would highly recommend this location - so... More

First of all, believe what read in the negative review section regarding the basement rooms. This is where my family and I ended up the first night. The basement level is dark and a little creepy. When you walk into the actually room, there is a wet/moldy feeling which I hated. Even though I requested to not be on the... More

Location was great, near museums, restaurants and events. Unfortunately our room looked out on a pile of hotel garbage: discarded mattresses, broken wood pallets, etc. I notified the front desk but they weren't able to help. I expected much more from this hotel.
