I booked two rooms with doubles beds and a seating area. We were given two small rooms with king beds. The hotel staff told me that my reservation was only a request and that I could not have the rooms I booked. It took 3 people, over 45 minutes and finally we were moved. We were late for your dinner... More

Being a fan of historic architecture, and having stayed here once before, I decided this would make a nice spot for our stay in D.C. The location just above Dupont Circle was great with lots of restaurants and shops within walking distance. We stayed in a Junior King Suite which is basically a nice sized guest room with a couple... More

If you like hotels with character. This is a good place to stay. We were there for 3 nights and found it comfortable, although if I were to return to Washington I would likely look for a hotel closer to the monuments and museums. That said, this hotel is within 5-7 walk of the Dupont Circle subway and it was... More

This was my home for a week whilst my husband was attending a conference. We were lucky to be given a mini suite with a fridge & microwave situated in a small area off the entrance hall. The hotel is friendly enough and there were no noise issues from neighbouring rooms. My only whinge would be that I had no... More

There is a $200 fee for smoking in your room, which must be signed when registering. Therefore, after a night at the bars all the foreigners that stay there (the area is know as embassy row) smoke in the narrow hallways setting off the fire alarms. This happened twice on a three night stay. The place is an old firetrap,... More

I usually only write good reviews, but I think my experience at this hotel needs to be shared. Mistakes happen, over-bookings happen, but not only did the Churchill give away the room that we had reserved over two months in advance, but the staff was completely apathetic about the situation and refused to do anything but downgrade us to something... This historic property is in a prime location, just a few blocks from Dupont Circle. The public spaces are very nice. Our room was fine, although it could have used a bit more in the way of furniture. It was a very large room that was half empty. It did have a desk and a couple of chairs, but what... More

I stayed in DC for 10 days for work. The room did not only NOT have a desk but did not even have a chair, so there was no way I could work there. Also, the heater/AC only worked sporadically and the low setting on the fen was not working at all. But location is great. I just expected better... More

My husband and I stayed here for three nights (April 13-17 2012), and were very happy with our stay. We used a Groupon for two of the nights, which made our stay much more reasonable. The only reason I wouldn't stay here again would be because of the high price of the room (I think it was around $325/night regularly),... More

My son and I spent 4 nights in this hotel. The hotel was clean, staff was very nice and the restaurant had great food - and room service was prompt. Now that I know a little bit more about the D.C. area I might have chosen something a little closer to the monuments, but I can't complain about the hotel... More
