A Quiet Respite in Bustling DC.....A home away from home, meeting people from all over the world, the staff, cleanliness and the evening music and tea are just a few noteworthy comments. There is a great park nearby and bus transportation to downtown DC. Highly recommend.

I spent the last weekend at the International Guest house and had a blessed time. Every night the host ring the bell and you have the opportunity to chat with the other guest but of course you are not supposed to do it. Instead of sitting in the living room you could've gone downstairs to hang out in the well-appointed... More

I stayed at the IGH for two weeks when I first moved in to DC. At first I was nervous about sharing a room with strangers, because I had never stayed at a hostel before. In the end, the two girls I shared my room with became my good friends. The hosts at the guest house make every effort to... More

I stayed here with my 10 year old son who was so hesitant to stay somewhere other than a hotel. I convinced him to give it a go and the night before we left he was so upset that our visit was coming to an end. Every single staff member was kind, caring and welcomed us like family. There is... We visited DC for 4 days and were so pleased we came across this wonderful guest house run by the Mennonite church. Indeed, it was a highlight of our stay in this city. IGH is a refreshing change from impersonal hotels, a beautifully renovated 100-year old home in a quiet street, with simple but immaculately clean facilities. We were made... More

We really appreciated the warm welcome and the feeling of being in a home where people cared. This may not be for everyone as there are separate bathrooms for men and women on different floors, but every room is immaculate and the evening tea and cookies is a highlight. Hosts make sure people share and talk to one another! There... More

I was in DC for a conference and wanted to stay a few extra days to take in the sights. A friend suggested the IGH and who could beat the price?! But really, it's more than that. It is the sense of safety and community that really makes this place. By eating together, having tea and checking in at the... More

I had an awesome time at IGH. I received a very pleasant welcome; much more pleasant than I expected. The rooms are neat and I found the staff to be friendly. It is the perfect place for you if you're visiting Washington DC on a limited budget. I would recommend IGH anytime anyday.

Not only is this a fraction of the cost of a conference hotel, it supports meeting people of all ages from all over the world by serving tea at 9pm and breakfast at a simple but elegant dining room. Sleep 2-3 to a room under hand stitched quilts and A/C. Exceptionally gleaming and clean. Guest refrig, microwave, computer, WiFi, off... More

We stayed at international guest house for 3 nights. The place is super clean and comfortable. The hosts, Anita and Andy, were very kind and helpful. They provide breakfast and tea time in the evening. We felt like home. It was very pleasant to stay there. As for the transportation, it's around 20-30 minutes away from downtown. There is a...
