A welcome change from chain hotels, the Tabard Inn has a history plus lots of literary references. Most recently, John Grisham's Pelican Brief was set here. The neighborhood is also picturesque and convenient. However, some rooms share a bath and ours was reached only by climbing two flights of VERY narrow stairs. The mattress was rock hard, but the small... More

I stayed here along with several other friends (in different rooms) for a wedding. The hotel itself is really unique -- from what I could tell, every room is different and the decor is amusingly eclectic. The room I stayed in was spacious, but oddly laid out with a small "foyer" area that was rather unusable. The bathroom was tiny... More

I have stayed here many times and have had many rooms including the penthouse suite. I always eat in the restaurant and marvel at how inspired the food is. No TV, no phones, and not very reliable wifi, but really, who doesn't have a cell phone and iPad with cellular access these days. The rooms are beautifully decorated and the... More

Stayed here a few times. Very comfortable place, central location.... sort of funky in a good way. Restaurant is good, breakfast included is nice and pretty standard fare in a pleasant lower level setting in or outside. Some rooms have shared bathroom which typically works just fine. Street noise be noticeable, especially in the front of building and interior noise... More

Very old historic little gem. This is just the kind of place I like, an experience. The cons were no elevator, the bathroom was a claw foot tub and the floor got really wet. I was a bit worried about falling and hitting my head. Servers were friendly and tried to be helpful if they could be, but no official... More

Stayed here as part of a wedding, and what a fun, unique place! Staff was very friendly and attentive, the included breakfast was perfect. We stayed in a mid-range room, and it was very spacious - only downfall was the poorly lit bathroom which made shaving and/or make-up a challenge. (Others in our party were disappointed there were no TVs... More

This is an old set of row houses turned into a hotel. The rooms are all very different ranging in ones with sitting areas, others that are literally the size of the bed, and others that have communal bathrooms. Everywhere there is art. It is almost like an eclectic art museum with everything from a manikin in a tub to... More

This review is a little late. We stayed there at the beginning of February for our son's wedding. The hotel is in a great location - right off of Dupont Circle, so it is very close to the metro station and easy walking distance to restaurants. The hotel has a sense of history, and therefore has its little quirks. Every... More

Great atmosphere and patio, but sparrows are flying Everywhere, on the tables, picking at napkins. Maybe cute for some but repulsive to others....French toasts were very good but I ordered a smoked salmon and goat cheese omelet and it was blend. I am not a big fan of salt but that had absolutely no flavor. The goat cheese tasted spoiled... More

Well it look quaint on the internet, but the cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired. We were there for a number of days and complained about roaches in the bathroom twice. Little did I know until I was home that I was informed that the living area was also a problem. Many times the room was not dusted and... More
