I am all about positive feedback so hotels can learn, but dont have to get punished for it, but this hotel gets no love from me. Had to spend one night here with my wife to catch a plane the next morning and I spend the night comforting her, that the night would soon be over. It was so dirty... More

There aren't many big hotels in Holguin, city of parks and a lot of green. El Bosque, recently (?) renovated, was supposed to be the best one (said our guide). Although "far from the madding crowd", totally away from the city centre, we thought the Revolucion had started again here, since it was a Sunday, and the whole of Holguin... More

Our group spent the night in Holguin in "El Bosque", a small hotel complex away from the city center. This had the advantage that it was not loud. The rooms were in small buildings surrounded by a lot of green. The hotel complex contained also a pool area; large towels were available in the room. My room had the first... More

Only a one night stay between flights (thank goodness). The dirty/dusty room had dangerous electric sockets (hanging off the wall), an air conditioner that didn't work, windows secured by bent nails as the window bolt was broken, mattresses that should have been replaced years ago, tatty furniture, ancient TV, a caged cockerel in the garden to make sure no one... Visiting Holguin recently, I enjoyed an evening meal here with a Cuban family, including an infant. We were made very welcome, and the substantial menu gave us plenty of choice. The food was tasty and quite well presented, and the service was also of a high standard. Villa El Bosque seems to have raised its game to face competition from... More

The hotel was in need of cleaning, cob webs on the ceilings, giant hairy spiders around. The shower head was broken. The dining area had birds flying around that landed on the tables to pick at the bread baskets. The place was full of loud music by the pool and lots of people hanging out. No toilet tissue or soap... More

This was our last hotel in our 3 week 10 hotels trip. After reading some of the more concerning reviews (staff giving access to non-guests to rooms) I wasn't that happy to stay here. But it was part of the trip. But it seems that the neighboring hotel is even worse. Recently non-guests are now also allowed to use the... More

If you are tired of the same old all inclusive like me , I suggest El Bosque, a small hotel 10 mins from Holguin by taxi;I have stayed there many times;it has beautiful gardens and is surrounded by trees; i found it very affordabe and there have been many updates and improvements this year; a closed in , airconditioned bar,... We stayed here for one night upon our arrival in Holguin and found conditions vastly improved since our last visit. Stairs on walkways to the main block of the hotels were well lit and broken bulbs had been replaced. We stayed at one of the bungalows and the room was clean, albeit worn, but the shower worked and the windows... More

We stayed here for one day in February 2013. The hotel is located so that you can walk to the city center in 45minutes or so. Our room did smell quite a bit and it was very damp. Due to the shower curtain which was too short we flooded our whole room when showering. It was quiet at night but... More
