We had a not so nice place in Trinidad and decided to stay longer in a beautiful colonial room. This was one of the best and most beautiful room I have seen in Cuba. It was 25 CUC! The owner was super friendly and the room was huge with all the colonial furniture. We absolutely loved it here.Breakfast was very... More

It was our one and only casa experience during our 1 week stay in Cuba. So not much to benchmark against. However: - great location, just perfect to stay in this Cuban jewell that Trinidad is - we had room #2, and it was overall ok, even if the electrical installation would give a heart attack to any UK tourism... This casa looks very nice when you arrive - it is impressive from the outside, and also when you go into the colonial house with the beautiful furniture inside.iris the owner is very nice, too. However- there is a big problem, in my opinion at least, with the bathrooms - you are not supposed to flush the toilet Paper down the... More

El Tayaba is well located in the heart of old Trinidad.Nice house and private rooms with nice walk out colonial yard and a little terreza. Mid of March I paid $35 CUC at night and $5 CUC for breakfast.Breakfast was big enough to hold you for 4 or 5 hours.I did not have any dinner at the house but they... More

Wandering around Trinidad searching for a casa in the blazing sun, we stumbled on El Tayaba and had a wonderful time. Iris was warm, affectionate and fun from our arrival- her English was also very good. She helped us book a horse-ride, find local music spots and assisted with every request. The casa has a long history and is located... More

Having booked this casa months in advance we were inundated with emails weekly from Iris. We were a bit sceptical about this but it turned out that Iris is a 'larger than life' character who just loves to chat and be helpful! (She died her hair pink to celebrate Valentine's Day while we were there.) The exchange of photos by... More

I stayed in this house for 3 nights and it was great. The house is beautiful, it has colonial style and an amazing decoration. Iris and Maria and all the family are the perfect hosts, they help you with everything you need during your stay and they give you all the information you need about Trinidad and the surroundings. The... More

This Casa has tasty dinner and lots of it if you opt for eating in... I suspect no one has ever finished an entire meal there! Warm, family-run place and excellent service - the daughter speaks perfect English if you need any travel help and have weak Spanish. There's an open-aired courtyard with old brick walls and fire place (this... More

We never stayed at the Hostal El Tayaba ourself as it was fully booked during our stay in Trinidad (winter 2013), but we came in contact with lovely Irisneidy and her family when we sent an request asking the availability. I will have to be up front in that I did not actually stay at the Casa. I was with a group, two weeks ago from Road Scholars who spent about 45 minutes talking with the owner/host. My impression was that he was a very friendly and concerned proprietor. His full time job is as a economist with the government.... More
