Location not far from the town of Trinidad, nicer than tha capital la Habana. Do yourself a favour and don't bother with this place. If you want to stay in Trinidad I would reccomend you use the Iberostar in town - ok it hasn't got a pool but it a world away from this place. I don't think I saw any staff smile in the 3 days we were there. The food is rubbish... more

Hotel Ancon is a basic Russian design - not many frills. The price was right - all inclusive - and the beach was clean and uncrowded. A very short trip to historic Trinidad city. Okay, I have waited a while to write a review about Hotel Ancon. I was there during March Break and the weather was absolutely wonderful. Much much warmer than the Atlantic side of Cuba during the winter months. The beach was very very nice.......certainly not the best I have ever seen in Cuba.....but very very nice. Hotel Ancon is located about 10 miles from Trindad. The hotel is a throwback to the type of place you'd find in Bulgaria pre-1990. Seems designed to keep Cubans out and tourist safe from themselves and interacting with locals. With that said, word is that Cubans can now visit tourist hotels.
