Stayed at Te Whau Lodge for (regrettably) only one night in February. This was the perfect retreat from super city Auckland - breathtaking views, beautiful rooms and amazing food. Liz and Gene have taken a gorgeous location and have created a space filled with love and such attention to detail, you simply can't help but feel completely spoilt...just being here.... More

Te Whau Lodge (not to be confused with the nearby vineyard of the same name) is a fabulous B&B, run by innkeepers Gene (the gourmet cook) and Liz (the “overall boss”). Every evening, we were treated to the most magnificent sunsets imaginable accompanied by inventive canapes prepared by Gene. A glass (or rather a few glasses) of fine NZ wine... More

We stayed here for a week over Christmas 2013 - and incorporated a private marriage ceremony just before Christmas. The whole stay at Te Whau was faultless. Gene & Liz are a profoundly endearing couple and optimum examples of Kiwi hospitality. Their personalities match their perfectly placed lodge, which is beautiful on so many levels - and a credit to... More

So many have already said such wonderful things that I'm not sure I could add anything else, but I'll try. The view over the water with Auckland in the distance is awe inspiring. The lodge itself is wonderfully laid out. The food - I'm not sure my words can do it justice. Canapes (a type of hors d'œuvre) in the... More

What spectacular views our over the bays of Waiheke Island! Sailboats in the harbor and the car ferry as well. Gene is an incredible chef, making the most elegant canapés each evening—that are equally delicious. And he prepared a dinner that was probably the best we had in NZ-- salmon with an elegant presentation. We rated the dinner “in” as... More

Fantastic helpful hosts, amazing views. The room we had was great and well appointed to take in the breath taking views. We enjoyed the hot tub on the deck which again took in the view. We dined in one night and the experience was wonderful as well as the breakfasts.

Liz and Gene run an exceptionally well-designed boutique lodge with style and heart: positioned on a gorgeous ridge with panoramic views of Auckland, fantastic walks nearby, great vineyards and restaurants within easy driving distance, and the most magical 'home away from home' to come back to after your adventures. Don't miss the delicious treats in those if you choose to... More

We stayed for 2 nights on a B&B basis and had a truley wonderful time. Liz and Gene (Eugene) are impeccable hosts and were excellent company during the evening when we sampled fine local wines and delicious canapés. The location of and views from Te Whau are stunning. The place has a lovely relaxed feel and we only wished we... More

Liz and Gene are fantastic hosts and their lodge offers an extraordinary view to the bay and towards Auckland. It is very easy to reach in a short ferry ride. We have spent three lovely days in this high class location. Gene is a fantastic cook with a repertoire that is enriched by his extensive travel experiences. Liz has supported... More

From the very first meeting, Liz and Gene focus on you 100% and pull out all the stops to make your stay a world class experience. The location is superb, with breathtaking views from every deck and room of the lodge. As my wife and I quickly discovered, Te Whau Lodge is also the perfect vantage point from which to... More
