This is Glynis from Kapiti 4 Seasons Tours. Last weekend eight of us went to Picton from Wellington. Once again we stayed at the Gateway Motel, this time meeting new hosts Kent and Marie. The motel has always had a central location but the upgrades and attention to detail makes it a wonderful and affordable place to stay. Kent picked... More

A well equipped motel room in the centre of Picton which makes it close to the shops and restaurants. As the motel is set back from the road we were not bothered by any traffic noise and was able to get a good nights sleep. The next morning, having already returned our rental car the manager was only to happy... More

The couple managing this property go out of their way to make you welcome. They are very friendly treating guests as if they were friends. We handed in our rental car and they offered the use of theirs if it was needed. We had a two bedroom apartment with beds for six. There were only two of us and we found... More

This motel is right in the heart of things in picton you can't get any closer to the action. Kent & Marie are fabulous, they warmly welcome you, are happy to have a chat & know everything/everyplace you need to go. They were generous enough to get us free drinks in a local restaurant!! We booked a family sized room... More

Great motel - very friendly and helpful staff, conveniently located in the centre if town - close to restaurants and the waterfront. We stayed in a very clean and well laid out 2-bed apartment with a view to the hills. would definitely stay here again.

We arrived in Picton off of the ferry from Wellington and only had an easy 5 minute drive to get to the Gateway Motel. We were greeted by Kent, who was brilliant, very friendly and told us lots about the local area. We had already booked online which was a very simple process so we just then had to be... More

Great stay in central Picton . Right on the main drag, you can easily walk to just about anything. Room was descent size with comfy bed, hot water and ok water pressure. Everything was very clean. Free limited wifi. Fill-in hosts were so nice!! Would definitely stay here again

We stayed in 2 bed apartment. My daughter, her partner, newborn grandaughter and myself. The accommodation was spotless and well laid out. Being in the centre of town was very convenient. We wandered out for a meal and a stroll around the quayside afterwards. Beautiful place can't praise Picton or The Gateway Motel enough.

After a few days hiking the Heaphy track we pulled into Picton late in the evening with a plan to leave for Wellington the next day. Only problem was that we no room to stay in. The couple who own the Gateway Motel sympathized with our aching feet and gave us a great deal on a beautiful and spacious suite.... More
