From the outside it appears ok. Staff were friendly but short on information. Can't say that we were overly happy with the rooms. Small bed, room was ok in size. Vanity unit is located in the main room which is quite strange. The facilities were old and outdated. The towels were extremely hard and scratchy. There were no views at... more

This place is in a great location, within walking distance of downtown and close to the ferries. Rooms are clean and comfortable. However, noise and music from the lounge below was disturbing until midnight. Parking lot is impossible to get in and out of but there is easy street parking. It is a decent place to stay if you are... more

As nice as Picton can be as bad is the Beachcomber Inn. An eightenth style hotel in very bad condition. Avoid, if you can. Unfriendly staff, oldfashioned rooms. The only advantage ist the nearance to the harbour. Frauke & Thomas more

Don't know what "tired and old" reviewer was talking about--this place looks ordinary on the outside, but it was very modern inside. Clean, great views, beautifully decorated, large room (queen/king bed w/ another twin bed in room) with sofa, table, desk. By American Standards this would be a three to four star that is very cheap. Very nice restaurant (though... more

We stayed here for dinner and B&B for one night. It looks pretty bland from the outside, but the rooms are clean and comfortable, and most have excellent views of the port and out to the Marlborough Sounds. The restaurant is a warm and homely place, even moreso with it having been impressively decorated for Christmas. I know it was mid-January,... more

My partner and I decided on a last minute trip to Picton during our short stay in Wellington. The Beachcomber was an obvious choice for price and the reviews here. And it was just what we wanted. The room was very spacious and nicely decorated - queen bed and a single. The bathroom was a bit ordinary, as the interior... more

Stayed two nights at this motel in beginning of November. I think the previous reviewer must of stayed in a room that had not been refurbished as the room was nicely decorated along with a large comfortable bed (and the receptionist was very friendly and helpful). Added bonus of a balcony that has views of the harbour (worth the $5... more

Spent one night here before going on the Queen Charlotte track walk. Very disappointing. Old fashioned motel style accommodation with entrance over looking car park. VERY tired room and grumpy unhelpful staff. The worst part of our trip to NZ. more

Stayed one night in two adjoining rooms booked direct via email. Super adjoining rooms on the top floor right at the end giving double aspect views over the harbour which was excellent. Town was half closed for winter but this hotel is a very short walk from the main street and ferry terminal so all very convienent. Clean and functional... more

We stayed one night in this hotel - beautifully decorated room, huge bed, terrific views over the harbour (and mountains from the front). Agree washbasin was in a slightly bizarre setting outside the bathroom but not a problem. All very modern and trendy. Breakfast was not that good and not that cheap either - but on the whole would recommend... more
