We were stranded in Picton after catching the late ferry and not being able to hitchhike. We arrived at the villa to a warm welcome and really felt at home. They really care about getting people together. They ring a bell to get everyone out of their rooms to have apple crumble. We spent the night on the long table... More

I loved this hostel. It's an old house with additional rooms around the patio, a tree house, and jacuzzi. The people who work there are very nice and the owner helped us arrange our Queen Charlotte trek. The facilities are very clean and there's free apple crumble and ice cream every night.

I stayed here before starting my trip around the South Island, and I wished that I had an extra night to enjoy it. The hostel has a cool setup and offers enough to keep you busy! The rooms were cozy and opened right to the patio, there was free wifi and a personal lamp at every bed, and I liked... More

I guess it used to be in better conditions but still you have everything you need and it's well located. I liked the treehouse which was really enjoyable. But as I already metioned: everything looks like it used to be in a better condition.

I selected the Villa Backpackers because they were centrally located in Picton and were so helpful in arranging our Queen Charlotte Trek. I connected with Katherine at Villa BP and she was able to arrange everything from the ferry from Wellington to the entire Queen Charlotte Trek and back. This was an amazing service. The Lodge offers a number of... More

The villa is located very close to the ferry terminal, no worries though, they do ferry pickups. The rooms are clean but not very big. It is quite cheap for $24 a night (6bed dorm). They offer free breakfast and free (very delicious) apple crumble every day. There is a free hot tub in the charming garden and a cozy... More

I stayed here at the end of the summer on my way to the North Island and absolutely loved it. The layout of the hostel is great and it is so easy to meet people, some of us were sitting around the fireplace at night and had a lot of fun. They also have a spa pool but I didn't... More

The staff of the centrally located hostel is very nice, as is the owner who gave us great advice on all activities, including queen charlotte track. The garden is very beautiful and features a hot tub, an oven and plenty of opportunities for a sunny breakfast. The kitchen is well equipped and clean, and the rooms are nice and not... More

Room was situated with the communal shower/toilet right next to side of bed.Very hard to sleep with people taking showers and toileting, even though there was a panel heater it was a very cold room with a lot of condensation on the windows.I woke scratching, thinking maybe it was what the sheets had been washed in but then my husband woke scratching... It is always disappointing to get a bad review. I had our staff look at the review to work out which room was the issue, as the Double close to inside facilities doesn't have a heating panel. The Villa is well over a hundred years old. This adds some charm but also presents comfort challenges in very cold weather which... More

What a wonderful place. Highly recommended. Friendly staff. Loads of facilities and activities. Free apple crumble at 20.00h. Hot tub. Nice warm showers. A cosy kitchen and living room with open fire place and hammocks outside.
