Very close to the ferry for walking even with a big backpack. Kitchen is lacking in most every way, perhaps it was just the smaller one for the part we were in, but that's what I have to review. Tour was pretty basic, never saw any of this so apple crumb pie perhaps it was only in the bigger building.... More

The hostel is OK. New and clean kitchen. The rooms are alright. Maybe the German manager had a bad day, she was not too friendly and seemed pretty stressed out. There are better hostels with very friendly management in town.

Welcoming from the moment I was picked up from the ferry terminal. Its definetely walkable, but it was raining You are given a small tour when you check in. The apple crumb pie in the evening brings everyone together, giving the opportunity to meet others so easily. wish I could've stayed longer.

I reckon it was the best hostel I stayed at whilst my travels around New Zealand. It is very homely and especially charming as the building is actually an about 100 year old villa. There is a very neat backyard resp. garden with a free, very clean hot spa, free bikes (I haven't taken advantage of), free, delicious hot apple... More

Very Nice Hostel, stayed there while travelling on the Stray Bus. I Travelled new Zealnd during one month from North to South and it was by far The fastest free wifi Internet I have ever had in New Zealand. Free Breakfast basic but still and Free crumble after diner. Room and kitchen are Nice and well equipped.

I enjoyed my stay here. First and only hostel on my 2 week vacation to show me around upon check-in. Happy and friendly front desk staff. I think his name was Mark. My only complaint was we had booked a 6bed dorm and ended up in a 10bed dorm. Free unlimited wifi. The grounds are comfortable as inviting. There's a... More

Rooms: reasonable dorm beds with lots of blankets. Heater works reasonably well. Hooks in several places. Each bed has it's own light. Common rooms: fireplace and couches. How can you argue with that! Kitchen: clean and has everything you need. Staff: friendly, helpful and can book anything for you. Wifi is free and strong. Good location right in the center.... More

I had a great stay at the Villa - I was only there one night and would've stayed longer if I could! Some of the friendliest staff of any hostel in New Zealand, the complimentary apple crumble is top notch, and the hostel itself is really cosy. It feels more like a home than a stuffy hotel or mondo 10-story... More

The Villa is simply great! We arrived late and pretty hungry, so the receptionist arranged for us to have some of the free apple crumble pie with ice cream first and have some jacuzzi time afterwards. Both were very, very good. The hostel has a nice atmosphere and it's a shame we only stayed there for one night. We watched... More

What an amazing hostel! It was a nice, cosy house which gave me a warm feeling. The staff was very kind and helpfull. The kitchen, showers and toilets are very clean and the jacuzzi was amazing. The free apple crumble with ice cream in the evening was the finishing touch...
