Only stayed one night (sadly). But it was amazing, a properly made up bed with once with (2) pillows!! Nice little touches with blankets, free soaps and a little radiator. There's also free unlimited wifi, not something I've found elsewhere before, free breakfast including freshly baked cheese scones. Plus a soak in the hot tub adds the final flourish, thanks... More

Stayed here for one night in a twin room before boarding the ferry back to the North Island. This seems like a purpose built backpackers which is more modern than most. Gutted we missed the freshly made scones that day. The rooms were a good size and clean, the bathrooms were similar although had to get up early so I... More

Tombstone Backpackers is a relaxing place with good clean facilities. I would recommend this as a place as a stop over in Picton. Short walk into town and marina. It is very quiet at night as you are over the road from a graveyard so no noise coming from there.

I was pleasantly surprised with Tombstone Backpackers. The price is right and the twin room we booked was very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the friendly and helpful staff . They made bookings for tours, and helpful suggestions for restaurants. It is just a short walk to the centre of Picton and the ferry for those without a vehicle. Although... More

They have clearly put a lot of thought into this place and it shows. Thick walls keep the private rooms relatively quiet, shelves (with stickers provided) for food, several different lounging areas, washer/dryer/clothesline, pool and ping pong tables, sun loungers with a view, and even a hot tub. The included breakfast has cereal, milk, tea/coffee, bread and fresh scones (if... More

We had an amazing time at Tombstone and to be honest its one of the best hostel Ive stayed in NZ. The hosts are nice and friendly, when you check-in, Gary gave us a tour of the hostel and took us to our room. The hostel is clean, spa, free wifi, free brekkie and they make their own scones! Its... I've never experienced such a thoughtful welcome at a hostel as the one we got here. We enjoyed our room with private bath and balcony, and fresh scones in the morning. It is walking distance from town and the ferry. What a great place to stay for a night before heading to the north island. The hosts are very easy-going.

Well priced, fantastic service and brilliant facilities! They have a spa that can be used, wifi that is free and they provide a great breakfast for free, including freshly baked scones with jam and cream! They even went out of their way and dropped us off at the Picton Airport! So friendly and happy to accommodate! Can't praise it enough!

Stayed in the 'apartment' and had an extremely comfortable stay for 2 nights. Gary and Nikki fab hosts and extremely generous with freshly made home made scones at breakfast as well as usual fare. Lots of great entertaining facilities and free wifi. Def recommend this place en route to or from North Island or make a diversion here for the... More
