We have been travelling for 1 month in New Zealand by van, Arriving in Picton we asked to the Atlantis Backpacker for a motor home where to sleep. The owner was so kind that allowed us to park our van in her parking and use all the facilities. The hostel is amazing!! It's very clean and you get free dessert... More

My boyfriend and I have been backpacking all around Australia and were a couple of days into our New Zealand journey when we got to Picton. We've stayed in plently of hostels in the past 6 months and this is the only one I've stayed in where I didn't feel safe leaving my belongings out. So much so that we... More

Stayed here for one night. First impressions weren't all that bad. But the bars across the reception desk were freaking me out. We then got taken to our room. Up the ramps ... though what was meant to be a games room and through the kitchen. If cats are your thing your in the right place! The room was colourful... More

Pros: - Close to the ferry. It was our short stopover for the night after the ferry to continue on the following morning Cons: - Gloomy with terrible choice of rainbow coloured walls. What era are we in?? - Got in late evening and the man at the desk was drunk (admitted himself) and had to get another girl to... More

I stayed here for five nights in the large dorm (with no doors LOL) for $20 and absolutely loved it. Sheira and her team (with Shaun, Laura, Tony and woofers like Kenna, Elise, Hendrik, the lovely lady from Chile, Lena and Vanessa were very welcoming and helpful throughout my stay. It was clean and had a great atmosphere. This is... More

We stayed before and after doing the 70km Queen Charlotte tramp in flat no 4. The whole place is marvellously, joyously, zanily, colourful which was so refreshing after an overdose of beige in most NZ hotels, hostels and homes. The staff are equally attractive-open, friendly and helpful. Location is perfect for the ferry. And the sea, shops, food and drink.... More

Unfortunately my wife and I had the room right next to the kitchen. The signs in the kitchen said no cooking after 10pm. At 10.10pm I went in and found a staff member with guests cooking a feed. We were kept awake until midnight with noise from the kitchen. A pretty frustrating experience when we wanted a good night sleep... More

The hostel is very close to the ferry terminal and bus stop as well as main high street, which is where the library is located. The room we stayed in could do with a little make over but in general served it's purpose. The kitchen was never too busy and always clean, made my birthday cake there. Friendly cats walked... More

I lost both my spare and daily spectacles and could barely see anything while in picton. The owner was genuinely concerned and drove me to blenheim where there was a bigger optical shop where they had more supplies. Thank you so much! I felt like a treasured guest and I would definitely recommend this hostel to anyone who wants to... More
