Very nice Bed and Breakfast just a few minutes drive above the small town of Akaroa. The rooms have a good size and the bath is just on the floor next to the room. The house itself is built out of stone with a great garden and nice track behind the house to the upper winery with great view over... More

We LOVE Kokopu Estate. Our only wish is that it were a little closer to home so that we could visit more often. Typical Kiwis, Mark and Wendy are warm, helpful, interesting and friendly. They are consummate pros at hosting - allowing their guests as much privacy or "together" time as the guests wish! The property is a real gem... More

We stayed here for two nights to explore Akaroa and the Banks Peninsula. It was quite simply a little piece of heaven. We stayed in The Gatekeepers Cottage which has two rooms. A downstairs sitting room facing a beautiful courtyard with fish pond and an upstairs with a huge, very comfortable bed, lovely bathroom and basic kitchen. We ate out... More

Stayed 3 nights in Potager Suite in the main house. Warm welcome, excellent breakfasts, comfortable room and given excellent advice on restaurants and outings. Open fire in living room a real treat. A wonderfully relaxing retreat before our long flight back to the UK.

We have stayed in dozens of cottages in Akaroa over the years and this little rustic charmer is our favourite. Pretty, comfy, clean and tucked away in idyllic surrounds. Biccies and books beside the babbling brook, an entire estate to explore and ...yes, an outdoor bath. And good quality linen. And fluffy towels. And not having to clean. And a... More

A lovely quaint rural retreat, a little away from the town, but only a 2-3 minute drive down the hill, so not a problem. The property we stayed in was at the entrance to the property, it had a fantastic garden with a lovely stream running through it. The property itself was a little tired but with a lot of... More

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are pleased you enjoyed the garden and stream. It is a pity you had a problem finding us. We have tried to make that easy for people. To begin with there is a map on our website. Once at the property there is a large sign hanging at the... More

We stayed here two nights in gatekeepers cottage in November. We were immediately struck by the flowers and well kept gardens, especially around the little courtyard outside the door. Keepers cottage was well furnished , clean with good Wi-Fi but no TV......no great loss in NZ ! The cottage is next to the main house on a small lifestyle estate... More

What a great holiday experience!! The gatekeepers cottage is a magical, peaceful apartment attached to the main house and surrounded by picturesque gardens . Set up in the hills it felt so secluded and private yet it was only a short drive down the road to Akaroa township. The hosts, Mark and Wendy were very welcoming and were able to... More

Had two very restful nights at Kokopu Estate staying in their Gatekeeper's Cottage. Room furnishings were country French, charming and very comfortable, including the bed. Other than making coffee and tea, which seemed particularly flavourful (perhaps due to Kokopu's own spring water), had no expectations of preparing meals but could have done something basic with the kitchen appliances provided. Enjoyed... More

A lovely place to stay when visiting beautiful Akaroa. The self-contained unit sits in beautiful countryside but is only a short drive into town (a bit far to walk easily). It’s a quiet and peaceful place to stay and a good base from which to explore the area. The kitchen area is small but functional. The only real downside for... More

Thank you for your review. We are surprised by your comments about the bed, as we have many guests who tell us how comfortable it is. It is a very expensive mattress and not supposed to roll together so I am disappointed to read that you found it too soft. Other than that, you seemed to have enjoyed your stay... More
