We came here for our honeymoon 5 years ago and loved it back then so decided to come back to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary! It's a truly beautiful setting, in Rosie and Alistair's lush garden. They make mouthwatering breakfasts and are both so welcoming and hospitable but not 'in your face' and leave you privacy. We love this place... More

Your first view of Akaroa is breathtaking and it just gets better. Akaroa has the feel of a small French fishing village. Set in a beautiful garden, with trees laden with fruit Mill Cottage has the timeless appeal of a bygone era. The hosts, Rosie and Alistair are welcoming and gracious hosts. They make you feel right at home, but... More

This was our favourite place during our 2.5 week tour of the South Island. The cottage is picture perfect, spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated and furnished. The layout is slightly quirky with the shower-room being en-suite with the main bedroom and the toilet being accessed via the sitting-room, but this adds to the charm and makes you appreciate that you are... Stayed at Mill Cottage with my partner for my 50th birthday. What a wonderful place to celebrate. A beautifully restored, historic cottage, an easy walk up the hill from the hustle and bustle of Akaroa. The cottage has retained all of its character even though it has been restored. The downstairs main bedroom has a nice ensuite shower room and... More

This was a beautiful place at the end of our trip to New Zealand. The cottage is surrounded by a fantastic garden and Rosie and Allistair will do everything to make you feel at home. A fantastic breakfast with home made products is served every day in the kitchen/dining area and the cottage is comfortable. Of course, it is an... More

What can I say. We didn't want to leave. Wonderful hosts, wonderful gardens, 10 minutes walk to the town centre and so peaceful day or night. Magnificent 1850's restored cottage in beautifully manicured gardens. I would highly recommend staying here.

Stay here if you can, I will be supprised if you don't have a wonderful experience. Great for a couple or even a family. My wife and I stayed for 2 nights with our 10 year old daughter and 14 year old son. This was the first time on our trip that they did not go looking for their ipods... More

Our family of 4 stayed overnight in this amazing historic cottage and we all just had one thing to say - "We wish we could stay longer!" Our teenagers loved exploring the expansive gardens.

This place is Heaven. We did not want to leave. The cottage is stunning with a wood burning stove and well stocked fridge and is set in the most beautiful gardens with its own stream. Rosie and Alistair were so friendly and helpful and provided the best B&B breakfast I have ever had. We had not originally planned to go... More
