Our stay at Maison de la Mer was exceptional, Carol and Bruce have attended to every detail with style and elegance. Our suite overlooked the harbour and beautiful gardens, the bedroom was spacious and well appointed and bathroom also spacious and also elegantly appointed. I loved the fresh flowers throughout the house and coffee making machine in our sitting room.... More

We have only stayed in a couple go B&B's.....we usually like the autonomy of a nice hotel however even if you are having the slightest doubt about staying in a B&B after all the positive reviews for this property, then think again.....In my opinion THIS is the place to stay in Akaroa! Carol and Bruce have managed to maintain the... More

Carol and Bruce are the perfect hosts in this French country style bed and breakfast. They have combined the best of France with the best of New Zealand in a superb experience. I felt like a guest in someone's home. The blackboard at the door welcomed us and wished me a happy birthday. The home was beautifully appointed with genuine... More

This was out final stop on our recent holiday round New Zealand and it was the perfect end to a perfect holiday. Previous reviewers have said it all - charming hosts, fabulous accommodation, delicious breakfasts and wonderful views. A truly excellent place to stay.

A truly wonderful end to our visit to New Zealand. I would reiterate all the previous excellent comments and more. The accommodation could not have been better - so beautiful, stylish and tastefully furnished. The breakfasts were exquisite. Carol and Bruce are genuinely friendly and helpful and go that extra mile to ensure the comfort of their guests. A special... More

Recommended by friends and the last but one stop on our holiday. The best of New Zealand - friendly, very comfortable, a delicious breakfast and plenty of good advice on what to do in Akaroa. But different as well in the very stylish furnishings and excellent fitting out of the rooms. Also amazing views across the bay and towards the... More

My partner and I stayed here back in the first week of October and my only regret is that we were not able to stay more than the one night. The house itself is very beautiful & the location is amazing, but the thing that really made our stay so memorable was the company. Carol and Bruce were so warm... More

Although my tripadvisor profile might not reflect it, I have the good fortune of travelling extensively for both business and pleasure. Carol & Bruce's industry has two product elements, accommodation and hospitality. I can name you innumerable properties, both large and small, that provide comfortable accommodation with an excellent amenities. That's not difficult in this day and age, and therefore... More

Madison de la Mer is everything we could have wanted for our first night in NZ. A warm welcome, a fabulous room with every detail considered, a great view ( we stayed in the boathouse) and a good sleep. Bruce and Carol helped with great recommendations and made dinner reservations. The little bistro was fabulous. The next day we went... More

Believe all the reviews- this charming and exquisitely appointed bed and breakfast is a true gem and probably the best bed and breakfast I have ever stayed in. We stayed two nights in the Boat House and then one night in the Provence Room. Both are simply divine and filled with french antiques, sumptuous bed linens and every extra little... More
