Surrounded by a tranquil garden overlooking the harbor, this is character personified. Elegant Victorian mansion, beautifully restored by the owners with charming ornate plaster ceilings and marble fireplaces. Gracious living. The feather pillows and duvets are luxurious, with the beds firm and yielding. Morning is reason to linger longer at breakfast, with window setting overlooking the old fashion leafy garden and beyond,to the harbor.... More

We were only able to stay here for one night, which was a serious oversight on our part. Greg and Teresa are the consummate hosts who welcomed us warmly and made us immensely comfortable immediately. The house is meticulously restored and a masterpiece. A conversation with Greg about his restoration of the sculpted plaster ceilings revealed his love and dedication... More

Had a fabulous stay - the period and style of the house were very to my taste - rooms & decor very much in keeping, but with all the modern amenities! Lovely comfortable bed. Even though the weather outside was very cold, the house was warm & toasty. Owners Greg & Teresa were most hospitable - thoroughly enjoyed their company.... More

I don't normally do this sort of thing, so I'll be brief. But the point is my stay was so idillic that I felt it was essential to give it the thumbs up to anyone who may bother to read this. We decided to finish our three weeks in NZ with a stay in Akaroa and I have to say... More

This is an upmarket B&B in a restored historic home with wonderfully thoughtful hosts, Greg and Teresa. We stayed 3 nights in the Magnolia Room with garden and bay views (these would have been a bit obscured when the Magnolia tree is in leaf or bloom). The room was oversized and the bed very comfortable with small but functional bathroom.... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Oinako Lodge - our only regret was having to leave. Akaroa is truly beautiful and the unobtrusive and yet warm hospitality of our hosts, Greg and Teresa, ensured that Oinako Lodge is a place that we would definitely wish to visit again. The stunning harbour views, the attention to detail of our hosts and,... More

Thank you Greg and Theresa for a wonderful night in your beautiful home. We love old houses and you have certainly brought that old house back to life. Akaroa is a charming town, and we would really like to come back and spend more time there. Thankyou for the great reccomendation for dinner at the Little Bistro, and also the... More

We only stayed here one night but what a beautiful way to spend it. Oinako Lodge is just beautiful. So well kept. Each bedroom is so different and has such character. We were lucky enough to stay in the honeymoon bedroom Jade and the bathroom was amazing. The lodge is so relaxing, quiet and charming. Greg and Teresa who run... More

Greg and Teresa are truly exceptional friendly hosts. We were welcomed with a drink each evening of our 2 night stay. Their wonderful B and B Victorian homestead has true character and charm. Lovely room and very comfy bed. Our "Magnolia" room had a spectacular view overlooking Akaroa harbour. Both Greg and Teresa were very helpful with info regarding evening... More

My husband and I stayed at Oinako Lodge on our honeymoon and could not have chosen a more perfect venue. Greg and Teresa went out of their way to make our stay special - even allowing us to have some of our wedding photos taken in their gorgeous house and gardens. The Jade Room was absolutely spectacular - furnished to... More
