It was such a fabulous and heart-warming experience to stay at Wilderness house! From the first moment, our hosts treated us like good friends who had come to pay a visit. Liz's breakfasts were each time such delightful and delicious surprises, and Jim was an indefatigable source of useful information and good stories - and his house-wine, made of the... More

Wow such charm and hospitality was a breath of fresh air. I had a wonderful time, nothing was too much trouble for either Liz or Jim. My hat goes off to them. Found this wonderful B&B on Trip Advisor when we were looking for somewhere to stay in Akaroa . Liz & Jim are perfect hosts nothing is too much trouble, they are so warm and welcoming. Early evening all guests were offered wine and nibbles which was a great way to chat with our hosts and other guests. We were lucky... More

We spent nearly five weeks in New Zealand and stayed in some wonderful places. Wilderness House was our final stop before returning to the UK and it was simply perfect. Liz and Jim, our hosts, shared their beautiful relaxing home with us and couldn't have looked after us any better than they did. As just an example, each evening they... More

We were treated like house guests. The room was perfect, the location was ideal, and the breakfasts outstanding. But most of all, Liz and Jim, our hostess and host, were exceedingly friendly and accommodating. They made us feel very welcome. Jim was exceptionally helpful in guiding us to local walks. Every night local wine and hors d'ourves were served to... More

We have stayed at Wilderness House a several times over the last five or six years, but a recent visit prompted me to finally write a review. Jim and Liz own one of the best B&B's we have ever stayed in. They are wonderful hosts, very warm and welcoming. It is always a pleasure to enjoy evening drinks with them... More

We stayed at Wilderness House for just one night on 4 October 2011 but would have loved to stay for longer. Jim and Liz are excellent hosts and the house is amazing. Recently extensively refurbished to the highest standards and latest building specifications, it made us feel very safe and secure after we had stayed in Christchurch and witnessed the... More

Wilderness House is paradise. All recently renovated, it felt safe, solid and warm, and was full of all the little touches that make a stay really special - Liz and Jim really had thought of everything. Comfy bed, great hosts, just completely fantastic. I couldn't recommend it highlky enough, I wish we could have stayed longer. More
