Booked through bookings.com. Neat place to stay. We stayed in a building with six rooms and a common kitchen and living area. They provide wood for the fireplace. The kitchen has most everything you need to cook meals for the group. Breakfast was not included, but the view was great. Great place for star gazing, but the trees do block... More

Stayed here with my friend our first visit to Akaroa and we had a great time! The views from the lodge over the harbour and Akaroa are amazing at this lodge. We stayed in the Pheasant cabin it was cozy, very clean and perfectly suitable for the two of us, the fireplace was going to keep the wintercold out when... More

The view of surrounding bush and hills is great and there are many native birds in residence. It is close to a good walk. Everything was very clean and comfortable. We had a chalet or cabin that slept six. The top bunk was high and had no safety rail so no one was prepared to sleep in it. Instead mattresses... More

Booked to stay in the Maison cottage for two nights. Booked two months ahead of my stay and received an email confirming my booking which clearly stated "staying in the Maison Cottage" yet when I arrived I was told that I could not stay there. Felt like the lady was trying to sweet talk me into staying in the other... More

Really special location, easy to get to and from Akaroa but far enough away from the town to be peaceful. Easy access to local walks was a plus. Our cabin was clean, owners helpful, we really enjoyed exploring the property and surrounds :) We are independent travellers, so we do not expect to have our hands held at accommodation points... We got snowed in, having read reviews about lack of heating we did come prepared with hot water bottles and piled beds with all the blankets we could find. However we were reasonably snug. TV didn't work which was mixed blessing. Tiles on bathroom floor and kitchen nook were freezing, but we put towels on them for walking and made... More

Cant believe how rural this property is although its so close to Akaroa. The property is surrounded by native birds. The rooms are tidy- not 5 star but for what we were paying I thought they were lovely. Great lawn areas for children to play on and felt very safe. Free WIFI available but only at reception. Had read comments... More

Electric blanket didn't work. Bed very uncomfortable. Given no milk on arrival. No where to sit in the room except bed. Very cold and the fire was not sending out much heat. Drafts coming from hole in ceiling around chimney and through door to conservatory. Slider door between kitchen and bathroom kept getting stuck. No internet although advertised. Run down... More

My husband and I were booked into the Ma Maison Cottage for our 2 night stay and were expecting much much better than what we received. We wanted very much to enjoy it but not only did we have absentee hosts, apart from a brief initial welcome, but a number of things promised on the website (eg. fireplace which was... More

I stayed at the Lodge while in Akaroa for a conference. I booked "Maison" -- a bungalow that has a kitchenette, king bed, and table/desk (also night tables on either side of the bed and a full length standing mirror). The room was clean and had ample room; the bathroom was more than adequate, with a shower stall, small sink,... More
