Cant believe how rural this property is although its so close to Akaroa. The property is surrounded by native birds. The rooms are tidy- not 5 star but for what we were paying I thought they were lovely. Great lawn areas for children to play on and felt very safe. Free WIFI available but only at reception. Had read comments... More

Electric blanket didn't work. Bed very uncomfortable. Given no milk on arrival. No where to sit in the room except bed. Very cold and the fire was not sending out much heat. Drafts coming from hole in ceiling around chimney and through door to conservatory. Slider door between kitchen and bathroom kept getting stuck. No internet although advertised. Run down... More

My husband and I were booked into the Ma Maison Cottage for our 2 night stay and were expecting much much better than what we received. We wanted very much to enjoy it but not only did we have absentee hosts, apart from a brief initial welcome, but a number of things promised on the website (eg. fireplace which was... More

I stayed at the Lodge while in Akaroa for a conference. I booked "Maison" -- a bungalow that has a kitchenette, king bed, and table/desk (also night tables on either side of the bed and a full length standing mirror). The room was clean and had ample room; the bathroom was more than adequate, with a shower stall, small sink,... More

We had just one night to getaway over the Easter weekend. The weather had been challenging and Banks Peninsula particularly hard hit. We spotted a one night stay at this Chalet and grabbed it - the set up suited our group of 3 teens (friends/family) and 1 adult. It was particularly good having the living area as well as the... Mount Vernon Lodge is a great place for a break. But its not suited to everyone. It is a hidden little gem up a steep road, just off one of Akaroa's main roads. This is the second time we have stayed there. The accommodation is based on individual chalets with varying capacities, occupying a large picturesque plot of land. The... More

I arrived at the lodge at 3pm on Jan 1 to stay in the room I booked five months prior. The reception said they had double booked the room and told me I would have to stay somewhere else. They gave me no warning by telephone or email me. The only saving grace is that they booked me a room... More

We stayed in the 3 bedroom chalet with our 4 children. The chalet was tidy and had everything we needed. A very nice stay with a lovely walk to the township. A safe place for the kids to run around, as it is situated up a hill, well away from the road. Our kids enjoyed running around outside and watching... More

We had our wedding at Mt Vernon Lodge in May 2013. Alisa was our point of contact and in the months leading up to the day, made the process of arranging the venue hassle-free, especially considering we were in London. She helped arrange lots of things for us, like highchairs and wet weather options. The accommodation is really ideal for... More

Very beautiful setting with a lovely view of the harbour. Nice tidy room with everything we needed. We only stayed one night but would definitely stay there again. Very quiet and relaxing because it is away from the main street.
