We stayed here for just one night in February and were not at all disappointed with our choice. When we arrived we were greeted by Jane who made sure that we had everything that we needed to enjoy our stay. The room was comfortable, clean and had many thoughtful touches laid out in it. Doors led straight out onto the... More

We stayed the night here after one half of us completed Le Race, cycling from Christchurch to Akaroa. L'abri proved to be the perfect place for recovery. Lovely restful location away from the hustle and bustle of Akaroa, stunning outlook over the bay, immaculately presented rooms, and a comfortable bed with beautiful linen. Jane, the friendly owner, exudes passion for... More

We stayed one night here, and it is a really lovely place. The view from the bedroom is insanely beautiful. After dark, we laid out on the grass outside the room and looked at the stars. It's very dark in this area, so they were very bright. The breakfast the next morning was seriously delicious. The owner could be a... More

We’ve driven about 1.5 hours to the Banks Peninsula from Christchurch and have arrived at the L’abri B&B, located on Takamatua Bay just a short drive out of Akaroa. In our room’s welcome binder I read that Takamatua in Maori means “rest at the end of a long journey”. We both hope this location will be restful. And it turns... More

We arrived in L'Abri the day before the worst storm in a century started to attack the Banks Peninsula. Jane made us very welcome and her house would have been paradise in the best of circumstances. The room was excellent, the food was delicious, fresh and often home-grown or home-made and all the little touches made it feel very relaxing... More

I had to leave our earthquake damaged house while repairs were undertaken. I stayed at L'Abri for four nights. The rooms were clean, the breakfast superb, the hostess friendly and helpful about the places to visit in the area. Being a typical male and food lover, the free range eggs for breakfast, home prepared jams and fruit are a real treat.... More

This was a stunning place to stay. It sits up above Akaroa Harbour giving a great views from the two guest rooms. These rooms are separated from each other by the large living room and kitchen in which the owner, Jane, prepares terrific breakfasts. The rooms are superbly comfortable and we enjoyed delightful sleep! The gardens surrounding the house, looked... More

We booked for one night and I only wish we could have stayed longer in this romantic little cottage. As soon as we arrived Jane made us feel so welcome and at home. Little touches set this lovely B&B apart from others and this stay truly was one of our New Zealand highlights. The cottage sits in a quiet garden... More

We were fortunate to be able to stay in both of the accommodations available so were doubly spoilt. Jane`s home for our first night was one of the best b&b`s we have had the delight to stay in anywhere, and this is comparing it with UK, Europe, USA and Canada. Jane is very considerate and has given much thought to... More

Having spent three days at L'Abri with Jane Cook as host, 1 extra day due to the worst storm on the Banks Peninsular in 100 years & no way out --- Can't think of a nicer place to be stranded !!!, I can not believe the 2 negative ratings. Jane could not have been more caring, friendly, & knowledgeable of... More
