We were staying over the road at La Rive and went to the grand for dinner. Really great food. Good service also. Would definately eat there again. It was so close from our accommodation which was a real bonus.

It is a typical old fashioned pub with a large dining room with old fashioned 60s decor. The food is average but good value and much cheaper than the various other restaurants in town. You get what you pay for but only just.

Had dinner there recently. Very friendly owner. Food was excellent, presentation first class. As we were staying in the caravan park up the hill.....very steep hill...a member of staff drove the 4 of us home.

For the price this was a disappointment, Grand Hotel, well there's not much grand left as I'm not sure when it was last refurbished. We do not normally do these reviews, but when paying good money and you check in and the key is slapped on the counter without as much as a "welcome" or any words to indicate that... More

This hotel, opened in 1815, don't know how much modernizing it has had since then. There was no hot water at night but was in the morning, do they keep it on a timer? Very spartan room similar to a backpackers lodge, but our room did open out onto a balcony to enjoy a drink and watch the sunset. On... More

Went to the grand hotel for dinner with a group of friends for a hens night. Great food, great atmosphere and great service. Didn't see the hotel rooms but the restaurant was lovely. Chicken salad was very tasty and everyone in the group were happy with their meal which is great!!

The website looked great but when the basics aren't there it is disappointing. The toilet was broken, website promised Sky but here was only Freeview and the TV needed reception to come and use another remote to activate it as it is "too confusing to give people two remotes" It was nice having the view from the balcony but I... We were staying across the Road at La Rochelle and saw a big Black Board outside The Grand saying Bluff Oysters & Whitebait! How could we go past that?? Had the White bait fritter entree! This is make with all white bait and egg yoke (the old fashioned way), no fillers. It was a hug pattie packed with white bait!... More
