Wonderful natural farm stay with amazing views. We stayed on the camping ground in our minivan after a long journey from Australia. When we woke up the next morning there was a sheep lying in front of the door: welcome to New Zealand! Kitchen and showers are in a clean, cosy wooden hut. A great place to relax.

I stayed here by chance, as all accommodation in Akaroa was full, so carried on driving to Onuku Farm. It was so lovey from the moment I walked in with a real friendly team and relaxed atmosphere, even the sheep come up close. Comfortable rooms, open fire in the lounge and outdoors showers, but very nice. I would 100% recommend... More

stayed there in one of the stargazers and was lucky enough to had a clear night. very impressive experience. apart from that you get clean and well organized facilities, lots of opportunities for walks on the private property, propably the best view from your breakfast table on the banks peninsula and an overall fantastic time.

We drove through Akaroa township without being aware that this was actually IT. Either because we were too exhausted from a 6-hour drive from Mt. Cook or because we just anticipated it to be not quite as tiny as it turned out to be. We kept driving southwards, with the roads becoming ever more narrow and winding, until we eventually... More

My two girlfriends and I stayed at Onuku in February and had an amazing time. This is definitely the best hostel that we have stayed at whilst in New Zealand. About fifteen minutes outside of Akaroa, Onuku has one of those locations that makes you feel like you are at the edge of the world. Definitely take a walk during... More

I was traveling on my own and stayed in the main house in one of the dorm rooms for three nights. The room was very clean and tidy. The main house is lovely, small but you have enough space for all the people they can accommodate. My favorite room was the living room, loved the fire the staff was maintaining... More

Cold damp rooms. More staff here than guests - staff stay to themselves. No welcoming atmosphere dirty kitchens one toilet showers outside cold. So many rules!!! What is wrong with the staff? So depressed and unfriendly. Not a place for to chill out. Next time I sleep in my car

I was travelling with 3 other friends, however me and one friend did a detour and as such couldn't get booked into the same hostel as our friends in Akaroa, we agreed to go for Onuku farm as we didn't have another option. And I am SO glad we stayed here! Firstly the settling is stunning. There are a good... More

The location of this hostel alone is a big drawcard - perched high above Akaroa (Onuku is about 6 km south of the small town) and commanding a wonderful view of the bay. But more than that, this is a charming, relaxing place to stay, unlike some of the run-of-the-mill YHA hostels. It is also unique in that you can... More

I had the pleasure of spending a night (sadly only one) at the Onuku Farm Stay Hostel, and I would recommend it to anyone! As long as youre prepared for it being a bit out of the way (approx. 10 min drive to Akaora - load up on groceries before hand) you'll have a great time. Several stunning walking and... More
