Having never visited Fremantle before, our experience was made less than 'wonderful' by the 'grumpy' manager. We got lost getting there, due to our GPS not understanding the many no right turns, and then sending us in totally the wrong direction. I rang the manager and told her we were running late. When we finally found the place, we parked... More

We stayed as a party of 8 across three rooms at the start of February. This is a fantastic place. The rooms are spacious and well maintained, but the best bit is the extra space that you can use downstairs and outside in the courtyard. It really is a home-from-home experience - plus, of course, the luxury of a cooked... More

My husband I stayed at Fothergills in the English room with the four poster bed for our wedding anniversary. Having recently travelled to the UK we decided to try a B&B to see how our home city compared with England. We were not disappointed. The room is spacious and decorated with period furniture. The best part was that we had... More

Had Sampson room. Very nicely appointed. You felt like you were living in past era. Furniture was of great quality but had antique feel. Perhaps it was all antiques. Bathroom amenities great. Overlooks a busy road, but by night it quietens down a lot and really road noise not an issue. Great breakfast area and selection was very good.

Fothergills is a most exceptional guest house / B&B. The rooms are an absolute pleasure, the breakfast is as good or better than any 5 star, the breakfast room and rear courtyard are a pleasure. Staff are efficient and friendly, ensuring an excellent stay. This visit was my first stay here, and the beginning I hope of many more.

I visited Fremantle for a very important interview and was only stayed one night. On previous visits to Fremantle I stayed in The Esplanade (one of the most prominent hotels in Fremantle) but wanted to try a personable B&B this time. Even during the booking stages (which is drawn out as you have to email - there is no online... More

Thank you for sharing your experience and we are happy you appreciated the positive points about the houses. However after reading your comments we will clearly have to lift our game notwithstanding the fact that the preceding dozen reviews include praise heaped upon the very same person you felt was so dreadful. I think it only fair that other readers... More

Thoroughly enjoyed Fothergills. we stayed in the English room and although the bathroom was on the landing and not en suite - it didn't matter as there were no other guests staying on our floor so we had the run of the first floor to ourselves. Bed was comfortable - 4 poster, but no drapes. Lots of local books available... More

Thank you for your kind words. When we first put the 4-poster in the English Room we thought that the antique Flemish tapestry would set the mood appropriately. However your remarks about drapes have led us to look again and we have commissioned a local seamstress to make a set of Elizabethan-style bed curtains. Thanks for the suggestion! More

Huge collection of contemporary art, both inside and out. Stunning courtyard which made us feel we were in another world. Owner and staff extremely hospitable. Five times in 18 months.. Only a few more times and we might mistake you for members of staff! We have asked an archivist/curator to look at being able to provide a better description and account of the works on display which may make exploring the art work even more interesting. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and suggestions with... More

We slept in a 4 poster bed in the English room, underneath a stunningly beautiful tapestry. felt like we were in a palace! beautiful artwork and antique furniture, peaceful garden with inviting courtyards and 5 decorated cows amongst the statuary. Sumptuous breakfast and afternoon tea. Suzie, the manager, was most helpful and friendly. Five minute walk to shops & restaurants... More

My wife and I were greeted by Sue the manager who showed us around and made us feel welcome. Fothergills is truly a nice place to stay, it's location is walking distance from central Fremantle but there is a free bus ( the blue cat and the red cat ) which is worth jumping on for a tour around the...
