We booked this small hotel at the last minute and for just 1 night as a stopover on our way back to Faro from Spain. Friendly staff and good rates for a double room with a view to the river in high season. The residence is surprisingly big once you are inside and there is a roof terrace with views... More

Stayed in this hotel in June 15 for six days. Excellent place. Very clean. Isabel behind the desk was a mind of information. We could happly stayed for awhile longer. Right next to the boat to the beach.

The location of Mares is good and we found it easily. You can drive right down past the river and you find it just past the "old market". The lobby is a little worrying, looking a bit shabby, but the rooms whilst basic are extremely clean, large and sufficient. In my opinion there is little use to pay extra for... More

Hotel Mares: located right on the riverfront a short walk from the bus station as well as the rental car office. Perfectly acceptable Indian restaurant next door. The hotel is much larger than it appears. The lobby is tiny and stuffy, and is not representative of the rest of the hotel. Our room, number 216, was large, odor free, fresh,... More

We really enjoyed our stay in this pleasant, simple hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room clean and uncluttered, the shower worked well, there was even a bidet. We had a balcony overlooking the river but there’s a roof terrace for those without one. The restaurant is under separate management and the breakfast there was uninspired but... More

We had a pleasant stay in this small, very well located hotel. It is very dated. The rooms were clean though. It's basic so I wouldn't recommend booking if you're looking for frills and thrills. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Wifi worked fine. Free parking up the street. The AC isn't very strong, so if you're going in... More

hard to find place, very poor beds, resounding/reverberating noise, awkward architecture/hallways - just not a great experience. The staff try pretty hard, the overall experience is less than the sum of its parts. The good thing about this place is that it's inexpensive, and right in the center of Tavira. Walking is all you need to do (and oh, yes,... More

It is an affordable Residencial, near the bus station and just right in front of the ferry to Ilha de Tavira (the beach). The included breakfast is fresh and includes some variety. Note that there is no elevator so you have to climb stairs with your luggage. The staff is really helpful and nice. You can rent towels for the... More

An affordable and clean hotel. Very traditional with tiled floors and old wooden staircases. I'm not interested in facilities and the hotel had everything I needed. Staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was typical Portuguese fare both fresh and plentiful ( when in Rome do as the Romans do Dwayne ) Overall a peaceful and pleasant stay by the... More

Next time I will trust my gut and get a higher rated hotel in the first place. This was recommended on TA by only 67% and generally I go for at least 90%. But there didn’t seem to be a good selection of affordable places in Tavira and I knew the location would be good, which it was. However, there... More
