This was our first visit to the Tavira Pousada, it more than lived up to my expectations in terms of the service, the building and the food. The atmosphere was relaxing SOS much we plan to return before flying back to the UK.

Lovely restored convent in the heart of wonderful Tavira yet very peaceful and quiet. Can't say our room was the biggest one we've stayed in plus the lighting and shelving for clothing was inadequate.Beds were comfortable though and sheets and towels changed every day.Balcony was minimal for a hotel of this calibre.Pool area is lovely though and the towels provided... Great old building that has many impressive features because it was an old convent. At the present time, it needs a lot of care. We stayed in their best suite, and indeed it is a large room, but divided into several distinct areas. You enter into what is essentially a dressing room that connects to the bathroom and to a... Sometimes, when reading other entries to a hotel, I start to think ‘Emperor’s New Clothes’ syndrome has struck! This Pousada is a game of two halves, with the poor half unfortunately outstripping the good one. We must have last visited Tavira 10 years ago, and the Pousada site was a derelict convent site then, with a sign announcing a future... More

While our visits to this Pousada in the past were the highlights of our vacation it seems this year marks the low point. The bathroom needs maintenance repairs, the room itself looks rather worn. The furniture is placed in such a way that it represents an obstacle course difficult to navigate but very easy to be snagged in (prepare for... More

Spent one night here in May 2014 as part of a round trip, and had a great stay. The hotel is really characteristic and its location is superb. Staff was very helpful. We did not try the pool but had breakfast outside and enjoyed the varied buffet menu, including champagne, or was it maybe Prosecco. It is a bit expensive,... More

Our first time in a Pousada, we were recommended by a friend and a very good experience so far. A blend of history with modern hospitality. Breakfast whilst very busy - was fresh and plenty of variety. Our suite is well equipped and extremely comfortable. The staff have been very professional - polite and a accommodating to all our requests.... More

We are fans of Pousadas and their staff- and this one in particular which we have visited several times and previously reviewed highly ( April 2012). This was the first time we had visited when the weather was hot and it was a lovely experience to have breakfast outdoors in the cloisters. Previously we had always managed to book the... More

Staff are wonderful - very friendly and helpful. The hotel is a ancient convent but designed as a 5 star hotel. Prices for food and drinks are not expensive for this quality of accommodation. Easy downhill walk into the centre of town. Many interesting restaurants and bars serving good quality food.

Overall the hotel was quite good in terms of the rooms and environment. However the service at the bar was very slow. The other issue was the lack of umbrellas around the pool which was a problem when we went. I know another couple complained but were not really given any reassurance that anything would be done. Summer would be... More
