Tucked away in a maze of tiny streets near the castle, this hotel has a great setting with views over the lovely town of Tavira. One of only two 'not good' comments is that for anybody who doesn't know Tavira, it must be a nightmare to find. The very pleasant, helpful, front-desk staff admitted that the hotel's postcode rarely helps... More

This is the first Pousada we have been to and if they are all like this we wouldn't hesitate to go others. The room was large with a large comfortable bed and excellent bedding. It was kept spotless, the towels were always thick and fluffy. On arrival we were met by Alex who was excellent after a quick checkin he... More

We spent a week here in September 2014 and really enjoyed our stay. The staff were lovely. The breakfast was fine with plenty of choice but the coffee was not great and I would have preferred freshly brewed. The building has some beautiful features the cloisters and the staircases were wonderful. The food in the restaurant was excellent but we... More

We stayed here for 3 nights - B&B. Excellent location in the heart of Tavira. Free car park adjacent. Well trained and helpful staff. Large rooms. Lovely cloisters where meals can be taken. Breakfast not 5 star but fine. Evening meal can be €20 for couvert, soup, choice of 2 mains and dessert. Also a glass of sparkling wine -... More

Very good location, few minutes walk to town, professional staff with excellent service all around. Breakfast food quality, presentation, variety and service team were personable, attentive and outstanding! The sleeping rooms furniture are outdated and in need of capital funds for renovation and update. Pool is very nice but flies were a serious source of annoyance around the pool. There... More

The monastery has been well renovated with all mod cons but still feels " historic". Lovely sized room, excellent breakfast ( except for the coffee!) pool and the historic town a walk down the hill. Staff helpful and friendly. Dinner not quite up to the standard of the hotel.

This is an interesting place to stay but is lacking in a number of areas. It is clear that there is a shortage of funds to carry out basic maintenance and the bar itself is made from a cheap composite wood material. The superior bedroom was just ok with a very poorly stocked mini-bar, no extra pillows, many insects in... More

This is a very interesting building, where there has been a sensitive use of a very old building as a very modern hotel. Plus points: extremely friendly and helpful staff, excellent rooms - with first class wi-fi - very good pool area, proximity to interesting areas of town. Minus points: breakfast very ordinary ( coffee really awful, but what else... More

We stayed at this beautiful and historic Pousada while traveling in Spain recently and it was lovely. Set up on the hill just a few blocks from the Tavira quaint town square, you also have access righneaby to the Castle and its lovely garden and the Camera Obscura. The Pousada is a wonderful blend of historic ancient construction and modern... More

We've just returned from 3 nights at the Pousada de Tavira where we stayed during a friend's wedding celebrations at a venue outside Tavira. The staff at the front desk were lovely during check in and throughout our stay as they helped out with various things, and the pool area was a gorgeous place to relax during the day after... More
