The Quinta is an oasis in a newly built up area. It is round the corner from the rail station, not far from the town centre, and the large garden and aspect is charming and the farm complex has been sensitively converted. My sister and I were transported to the old Algarve we knew and loved of the 1960s, including... More

loved this place, short walk from the train station, lovely gardens incl a frog pond (the noise of frogs mating when we were there was hilarious, outdoor bird cage, very relaxing, gorgeous authentic buildings, beautiful apartments with antique/portugese furniture, freshly squeezed orange juice and free range eggs for breakfast from their own oranges and chickens, lovely breads to accompany breakfast.... The city of Tavira grew basically towards Quinta do Caracol surrounding it with new buildings. However Quinta do Caracol did not loose much of its original rustic looking and atmosphere. We just stayed at "Jasmim" room. A spacious, clean and really great room overlooking the gardens, the old washing water tank (now a swimming pool) and the old well. We... More

Although I agree with the other reviewers that the gardens and setting are lovely, I was not happy with my stay here. After I checked in, I was told that the wifi wouldn't work in my room, which was a problem because I had planned to use it in the evening. In fact, wifi only worked sporadically for me anywhere... Converted - and extremely well-maintained - farm buildings in a lush garden. Rooms are little apartments with a kitchenette and a comfortable sitting area, and each room is individually and tastefully decorated with traditional Algarve furniture. Very clean and comfortable with daily housekeeping. The converted farm is located on the outskirts (residential area) of Tavira and you can walk to... More

We stayed here for 9 nights with our 4 month year old and had a fantastic stay. The apartments have been beautifully renovated from a historic farmhouse with white washed walls and Aegean blues and yellows. The gardens are stunning with bright flowers, ponds, a small swimming pool converted from an old water tank, and sun lounges to relax on... More

We stayed at Quinta do Caracol for 10 days this June (2013). The room was lovely and cleaned daily. The breakfast was really good..fresh orange, apples, figs and a choice of sweet & savoury food. The surroundings were a treat, little fish ponds, areas to relax and a nice little pool. There are plenty of loungers so you can catch... More

We spent a week at Quinta Do Caracol in February 2012. The locals were all feeling the cold but we comfortably walked round in shirt sleeves enjoying the Algarve sunshine. (Bit chilly for bathing though). The accommodation was beautiful, a self contained apartment, tastefully decorated and well equipped with fridge, microwave and hotplates. Everything was clean and comfortable and little... More

Lovely stay, good double room ( 2 single beds pushed together). Very welcoming by the two lady owners, breakfast in the garden surrounded by singing birds, the sound of running water coming from the garden pool. The train station is just out the back of the hotel - some noise as the trains enter and depart from the station. This... More
