Very cute rooms built into the mountain side. Great location in the old lower town of Monemvasia. Best to bring in small bags as you have to park your car outside the 'castle' area and walk into the town. Lots of little shops and restaurants in the town to explore. Great to have good AC in the summer heat!

I have been visiting Monemvasia for over thirty years and have always enjoyed the experience. Nowadays a lot of the old buildings in the lower town have been very sympathetically restored with modern facilities, yet still retain the ambience of yesteryear. The New Malvasia Hotel is an excellent example of this. We had booked 2 rooms for a couple of... More

This hotel was one of our best experiences in Greece. The rooms were incredibly clean, and our particular room had a large bathroom. Wifi, tv, air conditioning and hair dryers were standard features in each room. The owner was very accommodating. We did not book ahead of time, and upon arrival, asked for a room with a large bathroom. Breakfast... More

We stayed in the older less expensive part of the hotel during Holy week. Charming old style buildings and rooms with thick walls, our two opened onto a walled patio and as with most hotels here are/part of the old fort. Rooms were clean , breakfast more than ample and served with lovely greek smiles. Loved every moment and would... More

Monemvasia is one of the most incredible places I've never heard of, and the Malvasia was a great place to call home while we were there. The room isn't quite 5-star, but I'd give the hotel 5-stars because I wouldn't want to deter anyone from staying here. Views from the balcony were priceless, as were those from the patio out... More

Well the whole thing was marvellous. We stayed three nights in the beginning of spring with rainy and cloudy weather. But i have to admit that everything was fine. The spacious rooms, the breakfast, the smile of all the staff, hospitality and of course ....the view. I cannot find anythinf wrong in the hotel to describe, except that there should... More

Everyone should see Monemvassia, and if they can, stay at the Malvasia Hotel. Two tavernas were open while we were there, Kanoni which had excellent fish soup, and Marianthi who is the warmest person and a great cook - delicious pies, horta, and stews, and her own brand of wine.

The Malvasia is split into sections within the old castle walls. We had a wonderful view of the sea across tiled rooftops from our spacious terrace. The room was a good size and comfortable, but the bathroom was too small and had a shower curtain which did not stop water flooding the floor, which was a shame. Gorgeous terrace outside... More

This is a magical place, out of this world. The location is incomparable. Once there, you experience a sense of stillness, as if time stops. The hotel offers all you need, keeping in mind that the rule in such a place must be simplicity.
