As stated in other reviews, you can't fault this beautiful hotel for decor and ambience. Fani is very proud of her special hotel. I would also emphasise the importance of not taking luggage on wheels. We have trawled our wheels over cobblestones before but not like the ones in Monemvasia! Leave your big luggage in the car and take a... More

A lovingly restored boutique hotel located at the far end of the castle. Fani, the owner, greeted us warmly and proudly explained to us the family history and the painstaking process of renovation. Later when she became aware that it was my husbands birthday she generously arranged a bottle of wine at dinner that evening. The hotel is beautifully decorated... More

The Theophano Art Hotel is beatifully situated and fitted out in old stone buildings. Breakfast is taken on a lovely terrace and its a short walk to the swimming platform. The hostesses are delightful and make the stay perfect. Note the hotel is a good 10 minute walk from main gate so take a small bag (no wheels) or pre-arrange... More

Fani is justifiably proud of the work she has put into converting the previously ramshackle building. It is beautiful, simple & tranquil. Right on the castle ramparts with beautiful views yet very close to the 'town'. Walk down some stone steps nearby and you find a secret swimming area. Our room was small but lovely. Marble floored and had double... More

We had a very atmospheric room 5 minutes up from the main building: in a restored local house a large living with fireplace, a sunny terrace with sea view and the sleeping area upstairs. Breakfast was quite good, with genuine local products. The hotel is decorated with taste and style.the location is excellent, right at the heart of the castle.you have to walk... More

Unsure of where to stay on our last minute 5 day voyage across the Deep Mani we knew that Monemvassia was on the list of must see's. Firstly you must stay on the island (joined by causeway) in the castle grounds themselves and not on the mainland small greek town - hard to tell when browsing the net and searching... More

We stayed for 3 days last March. We booked the large room (Vergo) with sea view from the veranda. The room was traditionally furnished with hard to find beautiful pieces. The whole hotel is a kind of museum with carefully selected furniture and art items. The service was welcomed and the breakfast adequate and traditional. A great stay in a... More

First things first, the hotel is on a great part of the castle, in the wide open space at its bottom side, near the walls by the sea. This means that it is slightly cooler than the rest of the castle, which can get very hot. On afternoons, one can sit on the walls and gaze up at the wonder... More

Great boutique hotel in fantastic location! The hotel is located inside a landmark medieval castle, newly renovated & very well decorated. Our room was cozy and clean, and had a small terrace with amazing view. The staff was really friendly and helpful, and the homemade breakfast with fresh local ingredients was delicious! Highly recommended, would definitely go back!

We visited this hotel on our 3 day romantic gateway in mid of August. We took the main suite (most likely their signature room). The hotel is clean and spacious. The room was great and unique just like the overall castle experience. The little balcony looking at the sea was great and adding to the relaxation. Shower bathroom was also... More
