This hostel was very close to the main train station in Riga, and just next door to the main shopping complex. It is a quiet area of town, and outside of the old town centre. We booked a private double, and we were given a private twin. All that was in the room was two pine beds, a bed side table, a desk lamp and a window. Very basic. We knew beforehand that the double rooms had a cable tv. After speaking to reception: who played the "We don't speak english" card. We finally got moved into the room we booked the next morning.
We heard from a local that they gave our room to someone else who checked in before us.
Overall, the showers/rooms and toilets are all very clean. The kitchen could do with investing in more than two spoons for the whole hostel. Other that that, I would recommend it if you want a basic, quiet room close to the station and market.
