We've been to Riga quite a few times - always staying at the other end of the old city. But, this time we ended up at Gutenbergs Hotel, which was as good as the reviews indicated. The location was great, the staff friendly, the room large with a lot of character (like thick wooden beams in the ceiling and other... More

You cannot beat the location of the Gutenbergs Hotel in the old city area of Riga. Everything was convenient to the hotel and it was nice to return after hours of sightseeing just to drop off purchases and have a short rest. The Front Desk staff was very friendly, helpful, and customer service oriented. I had the most dealings with... More

The Gutenbergs Hotel has become the hotel of choice when visiting Riga, due to its location in Old Town Riga, and the feel of the establishment. I have always stayed in the same 4th floor room, in the older part of the hotel, and found the original timber beams and sloping floors add to the experience. The location is perfect... More

A really central hotel with lots of character. The hotel seems to be divided into two sections - one which looks like it's 19th century and one which is older (think lots of wooden beams). It was really handy for all the sites in the Old Town with nowhere more than a 10 minute walk and the market only 20... More

When we were there work was being done on the restaurant so I can't comment on that and you have to allow for the disturbance that caused. Rooms comfortable but ours opened onto the foyer and other guests could be very noisy when they came in. Staff very accommodating and couldn't be better situated.

Located in an old building centrally in old town Riga with the impressive Dome Cathedral as the next door neighbor, this is a perfect location for visiting Riga and have more or less everything within walking distance. The hotel is "old fashion" all through in layout and interior design, and the thematic rooms are very nice (even though ours was... More

Visiting Riga for the first time this week my wife and I stayed for four nights in this old, City centre hotel set amidst winding narrow cobbled streets. It was a first class location as the hotel was within easy walking distance of all the main historic sights and sites. The rooms were very comfortable and the breakfast was far... More

Gutenbergs has a prime old city location next to the Dome Cathedral. The roof top terrace merits high reviews, but in winter, starting in Sept., guests may find the hotel more faded than charming. The rooms and baths are small and rather dark with well used furnishings. On the plus side, the staff is eager to assist.

If you are looking for a place that you can reach easily to the historic downtown of Riga, Hotel Gutenbergs is a nice option. Also you can transfer to from bus station to hotel is so easy by walking. And breakfast is very well for the price and thematic rooms will be nice memories for you.

The hotel is nicely located in the old town. It is a "neighbourly" hotel, and our room was ok but very small. They have a beautiful roof terasse, but that is in my view not enough to be much above average in total. Also, depending on the day, you might experience heavy music and noise large parts of the night.
