This summer we were visiting friends in Riga and they found this guesthouse for us. I can't recall ever staying at a friendlier place in our past 20 years of travels to Europe.
Ajia and Ivars are wonderful hosts - they looked in on us every day, made arrangements, even took us to the airport (and helped my folks find a lost passport!).
The guesthouse is very new so the rooms are lovely. Breakfast was amazing - very generous portions of all kinds of local delicacies. The grounds are wonderful - spacious and quiet with nice little surprises. Great for kids. It's easy to get to from Riga (just to the west of town) if you have a car. It's at the very end of a bus line so it's not too hard to get in and out of the city that way as well.
One caveat - they also use the guesthouse as a banquet facility so the Friday night we were there the ground floor and some of the rooms were part of a Russian wedding party. We loved the whole experience, but you might want to check if... more
