We have stayed several times at Villa Margaretha. We have also stayed at another hotel in Tartu. Villa Margaretha is spotless, efficient, and welcoming. We have stayed "out back" in the two floor Junior Suites, and the modernity of the inside sits well with the classic lines of the outside and the main building. Lunch and afternoon coffee in the... Villa Margaretha is located outside the immediate city center (if one may say so, since Tartu is small) in the area of nice houses from the beginning of 20th century. Very peaceful surroundings. Villa is in the old mansion house from the early 20th century, nicely restored and well-kept. It´s about 15 minutes walk to the town square, same to... More

Quite nice and peaceful location, helpful staff, simply but well-made breakfast. Maybe a little bit expensive. Wifi works sometimes but could be better. This is a different kind of Hotel in Tartu. To the city centre it is only 10 minutes walk.

Comfortable beds, beautiful furniture and decoration. Good prices in the restaurant. The breakfast was ok., nothing special. The only minus was the service: staff didn't ask us anything like how was our stay when we were checking out. They didn't either wished us welcome when checking in. That is a shame because otherwise this is an accomodation that differs in a... More

Im guessing Fawlty Towers is the most common reference used on tripadvisor. Regardless of that, this is the Estonian version in all its might. Decorated by someone that could star in a John Waters movie, this place is more than special. The rooms have great potential but unfortunently that potential is covered in porcelain figurines and a color scheme from... More

This is a beautiful hotel in a historical building. We stayed two nights in a two-person room, which is I believe larger than most of the rooms. The rooms are very nice, detailed and tidy, very close to a five-star standard - apart from the few caveats below. The restaurant is very nice and you could do a lot worse... More

I stayed here for 2 nights. The hotel is vety nice looking with the typical Estonian wooden construction of the 1920s. It makes it nice to stay somewhere different. It's a bit outside of the centre of town but it is only about a 15 minute walk which is fine with me. I arrived a bit early and had to... More

Couldn't really fault this place - the staff were friendly and welcoming and my room was spacious and comfy, with a balcony and desk making it a great place for a business stay. Would definitely recommend.

There is a weird thing about Villa Margaretha. The hotel is gorgeous, the rooms are tidy and sweet, the breakfast is satisfying. Everything is like it should be but you still feel that something is missing. That is the attitude of the staff. They completely lack friendliness and empathy. Well, they do what they are supposed to do and help... More

Pleased with the service after a 4 night stay. Old- fashioned theme to hotel throughout and special dress worn by staff makes them easy to identify. We were well looked after. Although a short walk from town centre, this wasn't a problem and we were probably in a quieter part of Tartu. Adequate choice for breakfast which was regularly refilled.... More
