We spent three evening here and had a wonderful experience. Friendly hospitality and Jason who ran the bar was exceptional. The privately owned Italian restaurant downstairs was fabulous, the food exceptional and the chef, her husband and son made us feel like family.

A top location for tourists just off the main square in the old town. It incorporates some old buildings and has converted these into a boutique hotel. Consequently every room is different. The conversion included very modern attractive bathrooms, tiled and heated floors. Unfortunately they appear to have EITHER a bath or a shower and we would much prefer a... More

A small intimate hotel just off the old town square. The perfect base for exploring the UNESCO old town. A quiet oasis to get away from the hoards of boat tourists that arrive most summer days. It is so Central you can get anywhere on foot. Fantastic helpful staff. This renovated medieval old building give you a taste of the... More

The Merchants House Hotel is just off the Old Town Square. It is not a big hotel which appealed to is. The staff are very welcoming and eager to please. It has a nice bar and restaurant within the hotel. A great breakfast is included. There is also a small courtyard if you wish to enjoy the crisp night air.

We traveled from Helsinki to Tallinn last week and extended our Estonia visit from three to six days.... Due mostly to the friendly and helpful attitude of the whole hotel's staff....from the general manager (Jonathan) on to all the young team members of the reception desk to the restaurant servers, etc.....that made us feel welcome and accommodated us whenever we... Wonderful position just a few minutes from the town square but more importantly excellent service at Reception and a beautifully clean and warm room. The complimentary dressing gown and slippers is always appreciated. Superb choice at breakfast and you get the feeling nothing is too much trouble at this hotel. The Italian restaurant gives a good choice of freshly cooked... More

Just spent 3 nights in merchants house and really can't fault this hotel. It has a really central location so no worrying about buses or taxis home late nights. We chose a suite which was superb, only down side was it had no bath but not a major problem for just three nights. Staff were all very accommodating, friendly and... More

Taxi from airport (Eur 7.50 - 10.00) has to drop you at top of street because of restricted access. Hotel is 50m down the street and a further 50m on from the main square where there are plenty of (expensive) eating / drinking places. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms on back are quiet, clean and well stocked with... More

I stayed at the Merchants House on two separate occasions in one week, so had the benefit of experiencing two different suites. One my first night I had a huge room which actually made me feel kind of uncomfortable - and the room was very oddly decorated with two large leather sofas. While the staff were amazing and friendly, I... More

We stayed here for 2 nights in May. We had a ground floor room, which was occasionally noisy from the sound of people walking past outside on the stone floor, and in front of the bedroom window. Other than that we had a very pleasant stay. The room was large and comfortable, nice bathroom, pleasant and helpful staff. Breakfast was... More
