The hotel is an interesting combination of the small hotel chain's operating culture and the soviet era reminiscents in an excellent location. After dozens of visits to Tallinn this trip was my first with a stay in this classic hotel. At the time of arrival my mind was full of doubts, and when checking out I was ready to suggest... More

We stayed in the same hotel for the second time with the kids, and enjoyed its familyfriendly atmosphere. We were upgraded to businessclass With 20€ extra that gave us A room with stunning view over old town and harbour. Service was smiling, breakfast was nice. Old building with lots of history from soviet times!

One of the tallest buildings in low rise Tallinn, apparently it was built during the Communist era to accommodate visitors from ‘the west’. Looking at the architecture … you can see how it fits in with the angular, utilitarian concrete functionalist visions of the time, and there are a few other reminders of its collective past, but beyond the shell,... We stayed here for one night during the Easter break. We booked the Junior Suite because the room has its own sauna (lovely!), and is on a higher floor. The room was spacious, with a nice view, but otherwise quite basic. The beds were a little too soft for our taste. The hotel has a good location, close to everything.... More

Great Location in Tallinn. Good connections, immediate access to the mall Virukeskus next to the hotel. It's an old building with very interesting history. It's however renovated, very Sokos-hotel-style. Clean, neat, simple, nothing negative. Good bars in the hotel.

Probably it is best solution for those 4ravelers, who wish save time on transpo4tation and sightseeing in Tallinn. Viru is lockated almost near the entrance to the old town(main tourist attraction) and on the crossroads of city's transportation lines. You can not imagine that this newly renowated and well equiped property is over 40 y.o. it looks like it was... More

This was the first time we stayed at hotel Viru at our own cost - last time, several years ago hotel Viru was in our travel package, but was overbooked. And we were moved to then newly-opened hotel Telegraaf. Not terribly disappointed - Telegraaf is 5-star hotel. Anyway, hotel Viru met our expectations: a historic place since 1960s - though... More

Hotel has great location just next to old town but it is bit run down (stayed in 9th floor) and needs urgently facelift. Breakfast was average as quality and quantity of food was not impressive. Family room is spacious and can easily accommodate 3 adults - even 4. Reception and check in was smooth but check out time you need... More

We stayed here from Saturday till Monday in March 2013. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. We had business class room on 9th floor. Great scenes towards the harbour. Room was spacious, clean and quiet. Beds were giant and mattresses very good. Breakfast was crowded on Sunday morning but on Monday there was easier to find place and food. Plenty... More

Hotel with good location and with some very interesting history. There's a guided museum tour available which gives you information about the history of Viru hotel. Ladies at the reception were very helpful and friendly. There are some nice sceneries from the upper floor rooms. Rooms are basic and show some wear & tear, but are still quite okay.
