Clean rooms and excellent location right by the Old Town of Bratislava. Since this is a "penzion" and not a hostel the reception closes around 19:00 pm so you cannot get any service from that time. The staff is helpful but they don't speak good english and can be a bit rude sometimes.

This was our second visit to Bratislava and this time we stayed for 4 nights, obviously at Portus! Can't beat the location, value and the staff is friendly and very helpful! The coffee machine is always available with freshly ground coffee :-) The four of us had dinner in the medieval cellar, the waiter had no problems negotiating the narrow... More

Martin responded promptly to online reservation request and was an entertaining, friendly, helpful, and generous host. The food was great, the room fine, and my bicycle was safe through day and night.

The location is perfect and the price was reasonable. Our family of 7 had ample room. 2 of us in one room and the other 5 in another with 2 bedrooms. Lots of stairs and no elevator as expected in a historical building in Old Town. Right behind the US Embassy, close to the Danube and lots of restaurants and... More

Spotlessly clean. Quirky interior. Small hallway dividing the bedroom from the ensure bathroom. Proximity to American Embassy made it feel secure.Tasty breakfast.. Huge impromptu delicious chicken salad provided early evening, on request! Very cheerful, friendly owner. 'Second in command' /Deputy slightly grumpy/abrupt on occasions. Slightly dodgy lock on outside front door.. Had difficulty opening it on returning, on second evening.... More

My friend and I stayed here for 2 nights. The twin room was basic but very clean. This is certainly a no frills place to stay - low quality towels, no toiletries in the bathroom etc. We had breakfast both mornings which again was ok, but nothing to shout about. You are not offered a menu at all, just asked... More

Stayed for 2 nights in July of 2013. Manager is super friendly, the breakfast was among the best of our trip. Even if you don't stay, come by for breakfast or lunch. Yes, the rooms are upstairs and there is no elevator. Pack light. One downside to be aware of is that it is right next door to the American... More

Penzion Portus is right in the centre of Bratislava, and in an area cluttered with expensive hotels, it stands out by its friendly price. Rooms are simple, but adequate, with toilet and shower, good beds and good wifi. The owner is very nice and hospitable, he offered a free drink (in my case, a beer) on arrival and was helpful,... The team working in this small B&B is fully welcoming and dedicated to making your stay comfortable. Despite the fact that they had no double room, which we initially booked and gave us one with twin beds, the rest of our stay was beyond our expectations. The breakfast was so delicious that we went there for lunch as well. Many... More

We were a group of 6 bicyclists doing the Danube route, we arrived at the hotel pretty late in the night, it was raining, we were wet. While they initially kept us at arms length, wet dirty riders wanting to come into their hotel, once they realized that we would clean up and not track dirt, they warmed up and... More
