We were heading to Hungary from Croatia and thought we would stop somewhere along the way that might be picturesque so Lake Belaton seemed an obvious choice. We took a room that didn't have much of a view on a grey day but it was comfortable enough. Not very inspirational for overnight visitors but perhaps families staying a week could... More

This hotel was built in the 1950s it appears and hasn't changed since. The rates are low, But the facilities and food are terrible, the broom cupboard rooms are shabby and haven't had a lick of paint since the central committee laid down the house rules circa 1953. The bakelite tv set had no channels in English or BBC World... More

I have never been at the Balaton Lake befoure, but if You'll come there You'll see that the best times for the hotel and the cities around the Balaton Lake has gone. But Hotel is still good place to spend some days, enjoy and rest. There is pool in the hotel and restaurant with average food. People can play table... More

Really beautiful place and well-located hotel : near to the Balaton Lake, the view from balcony in the room is amazing ! Great buffet, great rooms. I totally recommand it ! Warning : it's 3 stars but for France, it's more like a 2 stars hotel. The only criticism I can make are the beds : not really confortable.

Location is perfect on the Balaton shore. The hotel would need to be renovated though and invested into. Food is average, rooms as well, but the view from fourth floor upwards is stunning. This hotel would have more potential.

This hotel is a little worn around the edges, but more than makes up for it by being situated on the bank of the beautiful Lake Balaton. Outstanding views from our balcony. Room was spotless and bathroom compact but new and also spotless. Buffet breakfast vast, everything from bread and pastries, cereal, fresh fruit, sausages, eggs, French toast, yoghurt, pickled... I you want a taste of what it was like to be an apparatchik in Communist Hungary in the 1960s, this is the hotel for you. For those old enough to remember such places, or their western equivalents, it is more likely to bring on nightmares. At the very least it demonstrates how tourism has moved on since then. This... It's a budget hotel, crowded, and works on an all inclusive basis. Although it says so, it doesn't really have access a beach on the Balaton (the southern shore of the Balaton offers much better beach options). But there were activities for the children (although English is almost not spoken --mostly German), handcrafts, cooking, and the like. The rooms are... More

Hotel Helikon is the best choice. We are here every spring, because all around are beautiful cycle routs. It is for us beginning of bicycle season. Rooms are pleasant, meals very good. We can swim every morning and evening in swimming pool and go to sauna. Some of our sportsman clients were here 3 and more times and I am... More

We had a 4-night stay in Helikon Hotel at the beginning of May. The hotel is very well located - close to the railway and bus station, on the bank of the lake and in walking distance to all museums and city centre. The outlook of the building incl. the common rooms and corridors are in the 80ies socialist style... More
