Stayed at the Helikon as part of a two week package holiday (1 week in Budapest) for seven nights. Overall, the experience was very enjoyable. Our double room was a standard and of a decent size, comfortable, and clean, had been painted but noted some parts of the hotel looked tired. The bathroom was also nice & clean, plenty of... more

Stayed at the Helikon for two nights as part of a cycling tour. The hotel was chosen by the tour company. Overall, the expeience was enjoyable. My room was a decent size, comfortable, and clean. The bathroom was also nice & clean. The location directly on Lake Balaton and the lake views from the room are just fantastic. And it's... more

Stayed 7 nights at this hotel on half board basis in September 2008. There were 4 of us in our party, 2 of which had single rooms. All the rooms were the same size with twin beds, however, our room was in the renovated part of the hotel. It was much better than the 2 single travellers rooms, freshly painted... more

The hotel is located right by the lake with its own mini-island which is accessible via a bridge directly from the hotel. The staff is rather friendly, and my room was quite spacious with the usual appliances one expects from a hotel (in case you have difficulty finding the fridge; it is concealed under the tv). The lake is reasonably... more

Planned to stay longer, but checked out after one night! At a quarter to seven in the morning someone (using a key) entered our room! My husband called out, so whoever it was quicky left. When we told the front desk, they said housekeeping do not start until 7 am. They suggested it was probably another guest?! Also, as we... more

Stayed at the Helikon for 5 nights with my husband in September 2006. Arrived via the local airport so transfer time was really short, and room was immediately available. Room was spotless, especially the bathroom, although both on the small side. Bed very low, but was comfortable enough, and had two single duvets rather than a double one. No tea... more

I stayed in this Hotel on a package holiday in a very hot and muggy June . The Hotel was clean and though the balconies in the bedrooms were on the small size the rooms themselves were fine if a little in need of some TLC . The staff were friendly and helpful and the food plentiful if a little... more

As with the other reviewer of this hotel we had a standard room. I guess that the superior rooms have been refurbished for use by the major tour operators but it is quite disapointing to see the difference in the two types of room. This first becomes apparent when the carpet changes. New blue carpet for the superior rooms, old... more

Tour operators and the hotel's own website sell this as an above average hotel, but there are shortcomings. I visited in June 2005, having booked a standard room. There are superior rooms, but as the brochure said all rooms had been refurbished in 2004 and I don't spend much time in the room, I thought the standard would be OK.... more
