Having booked another 3 star hotel which turned out to be a dump ( who gives out these star ratings anyway?) we were lucky to get this small and well located hotel. I only have 2 faults: the wifi was very weak ( impossible to watch YouTube at any time), and they turn the heating on too high, so at... More

Great hotel, clean rooms and friendly helpful staff. Good continental style breakfast buffet. Centrally located just outside the Basillica... perfect for getting everywhere, in between two Metro stations. As we visited in December this was also perfectly located for the Christmas Markets but had non of the noise! Free WiFi - quite slow in our room but useable. Lots of... More

I had one short night in this fantastic city and was looking for a hotel centrally located so I could get the most out of my limited time there. Hotel Central Basilica had everything I was looking for: convenient location, breakfast to fuel me through my ambitious day, free wifi (on one device,) restaurants close by (even a Starbucks right... Lovely hotel, we had a superior double room which was plenty big enough for two people for a few nights. Location couldn't be better, about half an hour taxi from the airport, right outside the basilica (as per other reviews the bells are loud but we quite liked them!) with xmas market on the door step! The hop on hop... More

This the the 5th time we have stayed at this hotel for the Christmas markets. This year they have added free WiFi and the coverage is a lot better. There has been a few other improvements as well. The staff are very helpful, nothing is too much trouble. The location is perfect for the Christmas markets and sightseeing. For the... More

We booked this hotel after reading its great reviews, and finding a great deal through the winter promotion (4th night free). The good: 1) Location. This is where the hotel excels. It is very central and for the most part we did not need to use public transportation. We were very happy with the location. 2) The staff. The staff... More

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
