This is the 4th time I have stayed at Bellevue and it's my home-away-from-home when in Budapest! The location is great, on the Buda side just below Fisherman's Bastion, and a short distance from the transportation hub of Batthyany Square (with eateries, Spar grocery store, and lovely St. Anne's Church). It's a nice retreat to come back to after visiting... More

Judit and I emailed back and forth about our 8 night stay and chose to stay at Butterfly Home on the Pest side the first 5 nights, then at B&B Bellevue the last 3 nights as my mother was staying at the Hilton very close to Bellevue. We also got a taxi ride to and from the airport and in... More

I am an elderly experienced world traveler, picky but not overly so, who does much research on accommodations before I travel, and am therefore usually pleased with where I end up. Clean, quiet, comfortable, convenient, friendly are my criteria, but I am a big fan of “olde worlde charme”. I have stayed here many times over the years, and have... More

Everything about this place was terrific. We stayed five nights in Room 3, the original master bedroom of the house. It has a great little terrace that overlooks Parliament and the rooftops of Buda. Our host is very well informed and was very generous with his time. Breakfast was adequate and always offered with warm smiles. Many guidebooks said to... More

This was our first trip to Budapest and we stayed at Bellevue B&B based on the reviews from Trip Advisor. We couldn't have been happier! Bellevue B&B is a little gem of a place and the location is amazing, just 1/2 block from the steps leading up to the Castle Hill area, and incredible views of the Hungarian Parliament and... More

Located half way up Castle Hill, an easy walk from # 16 Bus, has views across, to Parlament, and upwards to the Castle. Several very good local restaurants in 5-10 minute walking distance. The rooms are spaceous and beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean. The owner loves being your host to Budapesh, adding local insite and history to your experience. Public transportation... More

Four years after our first stay the Bellevue, we returned and we found it to be just as comfortable and pleasant as it was four years ago. Judit and Lajos are gracious hosts and continue to offer excellent accommodations with warmth and friendliness. As the current reviews attest, the stay here continues to be superb. We again highly recommend B&B... More

My husband & I loved this charming B&B in Buda, located steps from St. Matthias Church in the Castle Hill district. The neighborhood is quiet and safe, just a few blocks from a major metro/bus station, as well as restaurants and an art museum. The owners are friendly and helpful and arranged a taxi to pick us up at the... More

Others have covered breakfast and the location but one cannot say enough about the hospitality provided by Lajos and his staff of young people. Library of travel books, maps and brochures on local sites in Budapest available to consult or borrow in the communcal kitchen. We stayed in large room, #2, across from kitchen. It has big sofa and chair,... More

Nice quiet spot in great neighborhood in walking distance to Castle District and close to all public transportation. Our host was gracious and helpful with directions, suggestions and even called the airline for us and arranged delivery for lost luggage. I would highly recommend this B & B and we will stay here again!

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighborhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
