This hotel is right in front of the Mattius Church and Fisherman's Bastion and near the Buda castle. I would definitely recommend this hotel since it is in the heart of the Buda side. It is also very easy to get to the Pest side with either the funicular, taxi, or public transportation. The view form the room is amazing... More

Excellent location. Friendly and helpful receptionists. Good room, good breakfast. If we ever return to Budapest, we'll check the Burghotel first. Being Christian, we enjoyed the cathedral's bells in the morning.

Position, position, position... The Burg hotel is the prime spot for visiting the castle area of Buda, right next to the Mathias church where all the tourists get dropped off by the coach load every day. By staying in the hotel you are there in the evening and morning while it is quieter. The hotel is clean and adequate. It... More

Set in the Castle district of Buda, this hotel offers the most fabulous views looking towards St Matthias Cathedral and the Bastion. Very easy check in and out. Friendly helpful staff - desk reception more than happy to book taxis, look up opening hours, advise on getting around etc. The room are comfortable, en suite totally adequate with shower, hair... A good value hotel in a fantastic location. Close to the Fishermans Bastion, the Castle, St Matthias Church and surrounded by restaurants. We were there in September 2010 and were lucky to see a performance by Epona and its Lipizzaner horses in the nearby Court of the Lions in the Castle.

Stayed with my family for 7 days and loved every moment of it. Excellent location, right in front of Mathias Church. WIndows overlook the castle. Courteous and extremely helpful staff. Most importantly it fits the budget :)

Overlooking the Fisherman's Bastion is the quaint Burg Hotel. I have stayed here on three occasions in the past few years. A great free breakfast buffet with everything needed to get through the morning. There is no better location. Just a few steps from the hotel door and one can look down on the city of Budapest and the Danube... More

We stayed here for a night with my friends while travelling in Budapest. We chose this hotel because of its location and scenery. On this matter it was a good choice. My honest opinion is that what you pay for here is the location. Service depends on the person at the reception: the night receptionist seemed to be unprofessional and... More

I stayed two nights in the Burg Hotel and the most impressive thing is the location inside the so-called Castle of Budapest. The hotel is in front of the Matthias Church so the views from the window are stunning. Although it is a bit far from Pest (because you have to walk uphill) there is a very cheap regular bus... Staying in District I / Buda

Neighborhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
