WE went to this hotel because of the spa facilities and we paid a lot for getting a room with air conditioning and refurbished. The spa outside caused my husband a terrible skin reaction. The doctor's visit before visiting the spa was crazy and totally useless. The rooms are outdated .The spa itself is like a labyrinth.I would advice everybody to stay away... more
Good points: Gellert has its style, no one can deny it. If it glitters in the hall, then it becomes more on the 60-70s era in the corridors. I had a small single room at the last floor (the one with no lift). I knew it was among the ones not refurbished at this time, so it was OK to... more
Stayed here for 2 nights in the Easter. I recommend this hotel because of its Hungarian taste and style, its location (convenient though not central), reasonable room rate, and of course its thermal bath. But if you target to have excellent service, you may be disappointed. Transport: Better get the airport shuttle which is door to door at HUF2900 (one... more
Looking at past reviews you may be a little wary of this hotel … please do not let them put you off! A grand hotel in its heyday it still packs a punch. I booked a double room with view via lastminute, cheaper than the hotel’s web site. I choose this hotel because I didn’t think that I would get... more
I choose Hotel Gellert beause of its fame as hotel and for its thermes. I was only than disappointed. Except the exterior and the hall in liberty style, all the rest is nothing than a low quality hotel. Rooms are awful, dirty moquette, small bath with a very tiny sink, only 1 towels and most extraordinary the "big and old"... more
I loved the experience of going to this hotel. I found all the service fantastic - very politie and helpful. We got a deal so it was 3 nights for the price of 2 - which made it much more reasonable - I am not sure I think it is worth the full price - we paid something like £90... more
The hotel have ugly bathrooms. I took these pictures from the second room. The bathroom from the first was execrable. Please check this pictures : http://www.flickr.com/photos/34407130@N02/ And remember: 4 stars hotel. Incredible! My advice: don't choose this hotel. more
There have been plenty of reviews of the Gellert here already, so I'll try to focus just on some practical tips. Let me start though by saying that the problem with the hotel is that its features are so heterogeneous (from below * to *****L) that one cannot judge it altogether, and that it's really a problem for "outsiders" who... more
We chose the hotel because we wanted to go to the baths, and got a great rate for a superior room with river view. Overall, were satisfied with baths, room, and hotel in general, but the location is quite problematic. NOTE that there is WORK going on in the streets/bridget around the hotel, which means that it is somewhat complicated... more
