We had a triple room where we had a nice wiev over the street, good wi-fi, really helpful staff. The breakfast was average. Although it is cheap, the total score would be better if renovations were done.

To rest a while between sleeper trains (Prague-Budapest / Budapest-Bucharest) we took a room in the Baross hotel for a few hours. We had a room for 4 and were able to have showers, make drinks and get provisions for the next sleeper. This was an economical hotel very close to the railway station and was worth the cost to... Basically the only great thing this hotel has is that the main train station is across the street if you are traveling around Europe. If you are visiting in the summer like August the AC is horrible, Wifi very weak unless you as me decide to spend time in the lobby of next to the window on your room trying... More

This hotel is good for the people who arrive in Budapest by train. It is located right across the street from the Kelleti Train Station. The people from the reception were helpful and it didn't take long to check in/out and the cleaning ladies always said hello. We stayed in a room on the top floor. It definitely wasn't the... More

I stayed at Baross for a week in August. Some comments below: Pros: - great location - across the street from 2 metro lines, railway station, a lot of buses, trams to take you to the main sights. You can get virtually anywhere in the town from Baross - friendly staff - good free wifi in the room - working... More

I think my stay at Baross was quite poor I agree it did have a good location next to the train station but then on the other hand the rooms were very poor as the air conditioning in our room was being covered by a table which you were not aloud to move (or pay) breakfast was very bland but... Fantastic location - just outside train station and kind and friendly staff at the front desk, but apart from that rooms were old and stuffy with v bad air conditioning, no wifi and beds were not very comfortable, breakfast was not very pleasent with limited selection of stodgy pasteries and cereals - not even a toaster. However the location was... More

This hotel could not be better placed if you are using the Keleti Station and the metro is right outside. The street setting is unprepossessing but once through the street door the building is interesting, with the hotel at the top. General feel of the hotel is a little tired, it needs a makeover. Staff are correct but, in my... More

Pros: spacious rooms, good location Cons: AC in the rooms don't cool off. The first room we were given would just blow warms air, we requested to be moved and the guy at the front desk said we would have to wait until the next day for maintance to check it. We waited until the evening and luckily the new... More

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.
