The InterContinental Budapest, an IHG Hotel, is celebrated for its exceptional service and prime location along the Danube, with guests often mentioning the proximity to key attractions. While the hotel's atmosphere is appreciated for its comfortable blend of old-world charm, some guests have called out the need for updates in both the rooms and amenities. The cleanliness of the hotel earns high marks, yet there are mixed feelings about the value, as dated rooms and extra charges have been a concern for many travelers.

Beautiful hotel! Room overlooked the Danube River. Nice restaurant for breakfast and dinner. This was the pre trip hotel for our River cruise. Highly recommend-especially at Christmas time. The Budapest markets were wonderful. We felt very safe walking around the area.

Hotel's Favorite
I only had one night in Budapest and of course had to stay at this incredible property. Once again was greeted by Istvan at the door and my IHG Platinum status was recognized at check-in. Beautiful King Deluxe room with a sofa to sit and enjoy the incredible views of the river which at night are even more brilliant. I had been travelling constantly since I arrived in Vienna two nights before and enjoyed a short nap on the comfortable bed and then a short workout in the well-equipped fitness center. A friend met me at the hotel and we had a short walk to St. Stephen's Basilica to have dinner at a restaurant in the square. The next morning had a short walk by the river and bought some souvenirs and then took a Bolt for the short ride to Keleti train station. I will look forward to returning next year for another visit, hopefully for more than one night! Thanks to General Manager Martin Schoenrock and his excellent staff for a wonderful stay!

During my recent stay at the exquisite InterContinental Hotel in Budapest, I had the pleasure of experiencing impeccable service, notably from the esteemed concierge, Gabor. From the moment I stepped into the lobby, Gabor's professionalism and dedication were immediately apparent. His extensive knowledge of Budapest's attractions and his willingness to assist with any request made my stay truly exceptional. Whether arranging transportation, recommending local eateries, or organizing sightseeing tours, Gabor's commitment to ensuring guest satisfaction was unparalleled. Moreover, Gabor's warmth and hospitality added a personal touch to my experience, making me feel welcome and valued throughout my stay. His passion for his role as a concierge was evident in every interaction, and his dedication to providing exceptional service truly set the InterContinental apart.

First time at this IC and we had a lovely 3 night stay. The staff were lovely though I would say the breakfast team need a bit more pro activity as I personally found getting coffee difficult. Aside from this no issues. My room had a view and was a classic river view. This was a one category upgrade for a Diamond Ambassador. I was staying on points, which I bought specifically for this stay, and having read other reviews and travel blogs felt the upgrade was the lowest possible. I was offered a very good rate to upgrade to the club but declined. My wife and spent little time in the hotel so this would have been a waste. I liked the hotel, its location and staff and I would happily return. The rooms are a little dated and the classic bathroom is tiny but functional.

Lobby was busy when we arrived , before entering the hotel I was impressed by the view of the Danube and the general location and scenery by the hotel . Check in was relatively straightforward, I could hear a piano playing in the lobby / bar area contributing to a pleasant atmosphere. The room , although looking dated , was clean and fairly well equipped. A few plug sockets and only one USB ! , so make sure you have your adapter plug. I had a nice hot shower and was impressed by the non slip floor in the bath , the decent shower curtain kept the floor relatively dry. Good Wi-Fi signal, fairly good room sound proofing. Bed was soft and comfortable with nice pillows. Great hotel location and depending on your room you will have a fantastic view , my room was at the rear of the hotel , so no view of the Danube . Plenty of shops and restaurants very close to the hotel plus the local trams stop outside the hotel. Journey time to and from the international airport is about 35 minutes. Very nice hotel , friendly staff , rooms need upgrading. Great location

We have recently returned from a 4 night break staying at the Intercontinental Hotel. It was a special birthday occasion for my wife.and I cannot speak too highly of this hotel.I would almost go as far as to say the location is the best in Budapest - right on the river, looking up at the main sights. The hotel itself was excellent, with a very knowledgeable, polite and helpful staff. We booked a river view room (which we would recommend to anyone booking), and also paid for access to the Lounge (again, we would recommend anyone booking, as it is one of the best we have ever come across. Huge variety of drinks, and excellent food [hot and cold] served afternoon and evenings.) Budapest itself is a beautiful city, with many places to visit. We fully intend to return, probably in the summertime and will certainly be making the Intercontinental our base. As an aside, a big shout out to Budapest Airport. What a pleasure to be in a clean, efficient airport with many shops and amenities.

Fantastic stay and convenient location. Enjoyed the club loung which is free for Diamond status. We paid $50 per day for access and it was well worth it. Breakfast, evening reception, tea time and all day snacks. The staff were very friendly. The lounge has large windows, comfy seating and a stunning view of river.

I think all the rooms are facing to the river as I was reading the descriptions and booked because of that. The view from the windows was FANTASTIC!!!! You can enjoy the different atmosphere in the morning and evening! You can’t picture in photos, you’ll need to see in-person! Not sure if the timing in September was less kids and teenagers but I am just assuming 80-90% of the visitors were matured tourists so the city was very matured meaning not noisy party people. I didn’t expect the Budapest to be my favorite relax place to travel but now I love Budapest and the hotel! I definitely want to be back soon!! The city tour is probably enough for 1-1.5 days to fully satisfied hop on hop off to see and enjoy the city and please try for the river cruise in addition to that or might be included in the bus tour. The hotel was a minute from the bus stop. Concierge was a great help and friendly, asked for recommendations of the restaurants around the hotel and the restaurants were not fully packed so I was “???” When I enter (I guess it was the time) but foods were great! Sauna and swimming pool accesses were inclusive. I think these are great add-ons to your trip if you are traveling multiple places for the trip and additional spa massages (paid) gave me a luxurious experience. If you want a relaxed, calmed and enjoyable trip (not back to back tours and excitement), I truly recommend Budapest and this hotel. It’s worth it!! Recommended for 40+ relaxed trip favors!!

Really a divided experience, rooms are small and dated, well mine was, and considering this is a purpose built property, I would venture a guess lot of them are the same. The hotel (to me) also lacks any character. Just a hotel. However, location is nice, central, by the river and the food was very good. Service bes described between efficient and adequate. So why only three stars? Well, when I finally got to my room late the first night, it turned out the toilet had not been properly cleaned. The toilet seat bore the markings from the previous inhabitant . If that does not put you off, I don't know what does. Felt queasy for the rest of my stay. Will not be going back.

Was here on a 2 day visit for the Christmas markets in November. While this hotel isn't quite in the city center, its very very close to the major markets and shopping center and an easy walk over the bride to the Buda side. Room was very small, bathroom smaller than average in other European hotels I've stayed in (almost felt like a cruise ship bathroom). But the lobby was nice in that there was hot tea available and lots of public seating. It has a stunning view of Buda castle and is also a close walk to the parliament building, all of which are stunning at night time. Lots of people at this hotel for river cruise departures. Would definitely stay here again.
