This was my second stay at the Papillon Hotel and feel it merits a review - and an extremely POSITIVE one at that! Whilst rooms are quite basic, they are also very clean - which is important! The staff are all incredibly friendly, speak great English, and couldn't be more helpful! Enjoyed a good breakfast, and also an evening meal... more

I was already in Budapest when I booked to stay at the Papillon. In an internet cafe, I did a search and it came up with an extraordinarily cheap price. After the obligatory check on Tripadvisor I decided to give the hotel a go. I arrived, and was surprised by the person at the counter greeting me and introducing themselves.... more

Family from Dublin. Grandmother, Brother and Sister-in-law My son and I. We found the place very friendly and clean. the dark haired receptionist was lovely and efficient. The lady in the restaurant was extremely friendly and made us feel very welcome, any time of the day. Karoly the barman was the best I have come across on my many travels.... more

We stayed at the Papillon in mid-December 2007 for 3 nights. We’re 2 adults and a 15-year-old boy so we opted for a superior triple room. We were very impressed by the size of the room and it had a fantastic balcony looking over the rooftops down to the Danube. Some aspects of the room were not quite right such... more

My daughter and I stayed here for 3 nights and the good outweighed the bad. The good was the very friendly reception staff, the clean room, comfy beds and the 2 for 1 cocktails beside the small pool. The not so good was the fact that there was no remote for the air conditioner (though we didn't ask where it... more

This hotel is in an excellent location, within walking distance of bus stops, tram stops and also the Mammut shopping centre. I got room 1, which I reckon used to be a cupboard. It was nowhere near as noisy as I thought it would be. There is a computer with internet access in the reception that guests can use for... more

Good location in a nice and peaceful part of the city. Relatively well accessibe also by public transportation means. Room was clean but "smallish". Despite that I felt I got good value for my money. Only the breakfast was disappointment - honestly speaking it was the worst and the scantiest hotel breakfast I've ever had. more

Our party of 4 took 2 standard rooms in March 2007. As the hotel is located on a slope, you will probably not look foward to walking up the slope at the end of an exhausting day. The size of our rooms were OK but the furnishings looked really worn out. For most nights, our room had no heating. Breakfast... more

My sister and I stayed here between Xmas and NY and really enjoyed it. The hotel is basic but clean and has everything you need. Breakfast was simple but there were facilities for a cup of coffee and some toast which is all you needed after a hearty Budapest dinner!! Staff were friendly, helpful and spoke English. You cannot argue... more

I was in Budapest in June-2005, the hotel I booked is EURO59 .. This is the cheapest hotel among other 3 europe countries I went. The hotel location is inner part of blocks building, around 10mins walk from the tram, overall is convenient!!! The Hotel staff are friendly & helpful. I booked a room with double bed but too bad... more
