Carlton Hotel is well located near to the chain bridge ( 5 mins ) and the funicular ( 5 mins, walk up the hill if you can, you get some great views). There are some great little restaurants within 5 to 10 mins walk from the hotel, We found the sailor bar (5 mins on route to bethanytor Metro stop... More

Me and my girlfriend were celebrating our anniversary by traveling around Europe...one of the stops was Budapest. We stayed two nights at the Carlton Hotel and everything was perfect. - Location: quiet area very near to main access to the city centre (10 min walk) - Check-in and check-out: friendly, helpful and efficient staff - Room: great view over the... The Carlton Hotel was in a fantastic location in a fantastic city. So close to all the things visitors want to see; 2 minutes walk to the Funicular railway; 3 minutes to the Chain Bridge; 5 minutes to Matthias Church and to the Castle area. Just the ideal location for those who like to explore a city on foot. There... More

I ve been to this hotel during a job journey in Budapest, very kind staff and perfect location in the city center close to the famous cein bridge! The only problem is they do not have meeting room. Breakfast very good, international food. I will go there in my next trip for sure!

This hotel has good things and not so good things. Good: location, close to the center and the places you must see. Rooms are o.k, big enough and clean but no view. Hot water all the time and the room temperature was good. It was March and it was freezing out side with -3 degrees so that was important. Nice... More

This was booked for a 40th birthday. Taxi transfer around 35 mins. Checked in no worries. Situated in Buda, literally 2 minutes walk from the river Danube. 3 minutes to the Chain Bridge which takes you back over into Pest. Rooms were very comfortable all with free air-con, spacious bathroom, with bath and overhead shower plus complimentary toiletries and towels.... More

This hotel is situated at a great location - just off the Chain Bridge and below the Buda Castle. Many landmarks - both on the Buda and the Pest side - were within walking limits. Closeness to the Danube gave easy access to many river side cafes on both banks. The riverside promenade was a lovely place to spend time.... More

We stayed in Carlton Hotel in Budapest for a week. After the first night I discovered the bites all over my hand, fingers, neck and face. We even did not imagine that it could be bedbugs so we stayed for another night in that room. At night we woke up as had a feeling that someone was screeping on us... More

Regular visitors of the Carlton Hotel in Budapest told me that I will enjoy real value for money at this hotel. It was hard to find anything of a negative but fair comment. It meets all expectations: a sizeable room, all facilities, excellent positioning to reach the centre in walking distance. Great restaurants around the corner. Because the hotel is... More

This hotel is in an ideal location for touring Budaspest and within easy walking distance of the Chain Bridge and funicular railway up to the hills of Buda. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable although it was 37 degrees while we were there and the air conditioning could have been a little cooler, but everything else was great. Will definitely... Staying in District I / Buda

Neighborhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
